Groups from Lyon County Among Those Recognized at Banquet
The Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition will host its annual celebration of immunization successes this month, and will recognize among others, the community health nursing staff of Dayton and Silver Springs.
The awards ceremony and luncheon will be held on Friday, February 25 from 11:30am-1:30pm at the Grove at South Creek in Reno.
This is the 2nd year that Silver Stage Task Force has been honored as an outstanding community partner for organizing an annual free weekend Wellness Fair featuring free immunizations funded through Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition and administered by community health nursing clinic staff including Linda Ledette, Maggie Holloway and Amy Fuller.
During last spring’s fair, over 200 immunizations were given to children and adults in the space of a few hours, and residents of the rural area were also able to access nearly 50 services, activities and information booths related to health, nutrition, fitness, service clubs, alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment, mental health, sexual assault prevention and treatment, parenting skills, community support for families with military members, etc. Silver Stage Task Force is a community partner of Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey, a private nonprofit.
The Silver Stage Wellness Fair will take place this year on May 7 and free immunizations through Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition will be offered this year also. For more information about how to host a booth or activity at the fair, please call Task Force leader Cara Childs at 315-2990.
Dayton Community Health Nursing Clinic staff are also being recognized for greatest improvement in immunization numbers for 2 year olds.
For more information about the clinics’ services and hours, please call 246-6211. Tickets for the luncheon awards event are $15 per seat or $120 for a table of 8. Please RSVP by February 18 to guarantee your seat. For more information contact Heidi Hurst, NNIC director, at 775.770.6713 or visit http://www.immunizenevada.org/silver-syringe
