HCC's Dayton and Silver Springs food pantries now have longer hours

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is now offering new hours at two of their food pantries for those who cannot visit during their regular hours.

Sign-up forms are now available for garden plots at the Solidarity Garden in Dayton. Gardening spaces are available on a first come, first served basis, and are free for food pantry clients and SNAP recipients. All others pay a $20 annual membership fee.

Carson City School District closes schools Wednesday for winter storm, WNC campuses also closed

As a result of the impending snowstorm, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for the entire day Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021. The National Weather Service is predicting one of the most impactful winter storms in recent years to hit our area. Periods of heavy snow and strong winds are expected tonight. The storm threatens to be disruptive to travel throughout the region.

Seniors Eating Well is a free online nutrition class for seniors. The series of nine lessons offered through Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties begins on February 2, 2021 and ends on March 2, 2021.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak released the final viewing details for the 2021 State of the State address that happens Tuesday.The pre-program begins at 5:45 p.m. and will air at the link here. Then, at 6 p.m., the 2021 address will air by going to the link here.
