Comment on Prison guards push back on the proposed closure of NSP by Cyp
They think it would be a prime tourist spot? This proves how little they even go out to NSP. There is a water reclamation facility across the street from the prison. It smells like raw sewage most of the time. Is that really the type of place any of you would consider a “prime location” for a casino or museum. And do we want to stand by while our Govenor allows one of our historical buildings to be bulldozed for yet another casino? Not to mention, even if NSP closes there is a smaller prison RIGHT NEXT DOOR. Or is Skolnick planning on shutting that prison down as well? Let us also not over look the fact that he says he plans on keeping the execution chamber and a skeleton grounds crew there. Is that going to be part of the “attraction”?
As far as the job loss goes it is well over 130, it’s even over 150 proposed layoffs. More money not going into Carson City’s economy. Most of the 160 employees will be put on unemployment ( I guess he figures it’s better to pay people for NOT working). Govenor Gibbons seems out to turn Carson City into a ghost town.
