U.S. Army veteran David Meeker has proven himself an able leader and willing volunteer, supporting Nevada's military members and fellow veterans. That is why he was chosen to receive the Veteran of the Month award and honor.

Nguyen joined the staff of primary care providers at Carson Valley Medical Center in November following a 20-year stay on Maui.

There will be a public military funeral for 13 unclaimed Nevada veterans on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, 2 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

The Carson City Senior Center presented a salute to Carson City veterans Thursday. The program featured Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and members of the Carson High School JROTC representing each branch of the United States Military.

RENO, Nev. — Veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam Wars; their friends, family were welcomed on Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Reno Tahoe International Airport.

On Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 the remains of 27 veterans will finally receive the military burial and honor they were promised through their service in the U.S. Armed Forces. The service will be held beginning at 2 p.m. at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Cemetery, located at 14 Veterans Way, in Fernley, Nev. The public is invited to attend.

Nevadans celebrated both Flag Day and the U.S. Army’s 242nd birthday Wednesday during a ceremony at the Nevada Veterans Memorial on the state capitol grounds in Carson City.

The Nevada National Guard is set to host its 19th annual Flag Day and U.S. Army's 242nd birthday celebration 10 a.m. this Wednesday, June 14 at the Veterans Memorial on Capitol grounds, 101 N. Carson St. in Carson City.

Motorcycles are on the way. The Street Vibrations Spring Rally is rumbling into town and Battle Born Harley on Research Way is the place to be. Every Thursday, house band the Smoken Rabbits, gets the place jumping, but this party won’t end until Sunday. The weather is finally cooperating, so karaoke at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar will be out on their patio – J and M Productions has thousands of songs to choose from. Dozens gathered this Memorial Day at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City to honor those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and liberty.

Under the cool shade of a grove of trees behind Fuji Park and across Clear Creek near Baily Pond rest two Union soldiers.

The American Civil War veterans were laid to rest here more than a century ago back when the property was site of the Ormsby County Poor Farm.

More than 25 Spectrum employee volunteers will be in Carson City this Saturday to support the Charter Communications, Inc. national philanthropic initiative, Spectrum Housing Assist, which focuses on safe and healthy homes and seeks to improve 25,000 homes by the year 2020.

The 2017 NJROTC award ceremony was held Monday night in Carson City, where cadets, officers, chiefs and commanders were recognized for their continued commitment to Carson High School, their community and country.

What I love most about Carson City is our ability to be outdoorsy, patriotic, geeky, and none of the above - all at the same time. As one of the Northern Nevada veterans who traveled to Washington, D.C., earlier this month as part of Honor Flight Nevada, Carson City native Don Quilici has been left with memories and faces that he will cherish forever.

American military veterans, their families, friends and members of the community gathered Saturday afternoon in Mills Park to remember the Vietnam War at the annual Welcome Home ceremony held in front of the Nevada Vietnam War Memorial located on the park's east end.
