Christmas tree permits available Monday on public land in Tahoe basin, Eldorado National Forest

The Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and the Eldorado National Forest will begin the sale of Christmas tree permits on Monday, Nov. 13. Permit holders may choose from a variety of pine, fir or cedar trees up to six inches in diameter at the base in designated cutting areas.

Carson City Feds Feed Families brings in 2,722 pounds of food for local pantries

The Sixth Annual Feds Feed Families Food Drive to benefit the hungry in Carson City brought in 2,722 pounds of food in August, including 1,346 pounds of fresh produce at the Third Street Farmer's Market. Update on Forest Service campground opening dates at Lake Tahoe

Forest Service campgrounds in the Lake Tahoe Basin are scheduled to open May 12, 2017. However, campgrounds on the West Shore still have a large amount of snow at lake level, which will delay their opening. Meeks Bay Campground will open on May 19, 2017, and Kaspian and William Kent campgrounds will open on June 2, 2017.
