Tuesday has arrived, and that means a new stroll with Carson City Parks and Recreation. Today's Easy Walk is the Annual Art Tour, visiting eight galleries and exhibits downtown. If you can't join them on this excursion, just grab the new art walk map at the Carson Visitor's Center to make sure you don't miss anyone. Today also marks the beginning of the Nevada Day Treasure Hunt, an annual tradition that has history buffs and Nevada aficionados combing the grounds for the lucky medallion. Happy Tuesday, Carson City. Parks and Rec’s Easy Walk explores the Stewart Indian School. It’s a great opportunity to explore one of our incredible cultural resources. The Children’s Museum of Carson City hosts a special ‘Step Up For Kids’ event with free admission sponsored by the Children’s Cabinet: it’s a perfect time to learn what resources are offered. Canyon White is one of the area’s favorite singer/songwriters. Enjoy her tunes and some great food tonight as Living the Good Life goes acoustic.

Happy Tuesday, Carson City. Parks and Rec’s Easy Walk is a special trip to Spooner Lake where you’ll get to enjoy the crisp autumn morning in a beautiful setting. Listen to the voices of the past as members of the Washoe Tribe recount stories of their people in their native tongue at the Carson Valley Cultural Center and Museum in Minden. J's Bistro in Dayton hosts a spaghetti feed fundraiser for the Remote Area Medical program. A special lecture on the Sutro Tunnel takes place in Virginia City this evening.

What a day Carson City has in store. Jazz and Poetry hits Comma Coffee tonight as the Mile High Jazz Band puts on their monthly performance. Let the Sierra Nevada Forum's panel inform you about the facts and fictions of recreational marijuana from Colorado's experience. The Community Development building on East Proctor, formerly the 'BRIC', hosts an artist reception for the talented students in the Capital City Arts Initiative 'High School Pic[ks]' show.

It’s back to school and back to work after a long weekend, but don’t let the day feel like a Monday. Join the Classic Cinema Club for Whistle Stop, a love triangle starring Ava Gardner. Bring something for the ducks if you join in the Easy Walk at Ross Gold Park. Five years ago, our community suffered a great shock when four people, including three National Guardsmen, were the victims of a shooting attack at IHOP. Where has the time gone? We are moments away from Labor Day weekend with its Best of the West Rib Cook-off, monthly Downtown Wine Walk, Fallon Cantaloupe Festival, and Virginia City’s Civil War Days. Enjoy a walk in the Ronald D. Wilson Memorial Park, just west of Emerson Drive. Canyon White, the award-winning singer-songwriter, can be found at her weekly gig at Living the Good Life joined by Keith Alan Barnett. Dance it up: swing at El Charro, country line dance at Carson Lanes, or square dancing in Genoa are on the table.

The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West has returned and will be at the Community Center tonight, if you were quick enough to grab free tickets from the Chamber of Commerce. Join the ladies of Muscle Powered for a mountain bike ride through beautiful Ash Canyon. Holy Tuesday, Batman! Today is jam-packed full of options around our valley. A walk with Parks and Rec, a movie viewing with the Classic Cinema Club, and life-sized board games at the Library are all on the docket for today. The big story, of course, is National Night Out with the Carson City Sheriff's Department. Free food, activities, fun, and even an aircraft or two descend on Mills Park for the annual party.

I am quite fond of Tuesdays. For a weekday, they usually have some great offerings. Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.

The fireworks went off in Carson City last night without a hitch, bringing the end of another incredible weekend. Today may feel a little like a Monday, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself. Check out the new Spirit of America show at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Show. Our local Classic Cinema Club meets tonight and will be showing 'A Walk in the Sun' with Dana Andrews. If you feel like playing with fire, Controlled Burn meets at A to Zen to practice the right way to handle the flames.

We are days away from the Fourth of July weekend: fireworks, the Downtown wine walk, a carnival at Mills Park, and Wildhorse Children’s Theater's production of Aladdin, Jr. Weekdays in Carson City aren’t shirking their duties though, as there is plenty to do today. Learn some swing dance moves at El Charro Avita or go for a walk with the Parks and Recreation Department. Singer-songwriter, Canyon White, entertains at Living the Good Life. For those with a skewed sense of humor: Mystery Science Theater 3000 makes an appearance at Galaxy Theater tonight.

Whether you celebrate taco Tuesday, Tahoe Tuesday, or just any day that the sun is shining, enjoy. Dayton kids are in for a treat at the Dayton Library with at reading of 'The Tortoise and the Hare.' The Reno Rodeo is still around, so hit up their carnival and watch the cowboys do their thing. If you can't make it to Reno, Country Line Dance at Carson Lanes will let you get a taste of what you're missing. Tonight, enjoy singer-songwriter Canyon White at Living the Good Life. It is primary election day in Nevada. For Carsonites who didn't vote early, you can choose to vote at the Community Center or at the County Clerk's office, regardless of precinct. Join the Nevada National Guard at the Capitol for their Flag Day ceremony and celebration of the Army’s birthday. Mile High Jazz Band has something special in store. Their monthly concert will be held in the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall, and features guest soloists, poets, and more. Continue on for even more things to do in Carson City.

It's going to be toasty today. Luckily, weekly Parks and Rec 'Easy Walk' starts at 8 a.m., so you'll be off the trail before the sun gets too far overhead. The Brewery Arts Center hosts the Carson City Classic Cinema Club the first Tuesday of each month; join them this evening for trivia and a showing of John Wayne's 'Stagecoach.' Not going to lie, I'm a lover of June. Not only is it unequivocally summer, it is also my birthday month. So today we say a fond farewell to May and the bizarre winter/spring/winter/summer weather that came with it. Early voting for the primary is underway at the Clerk's office in the Courthouse. Get out and explore the history of the west side of town with the Parks and Recreation easy walk. Head out to the archery range and learn to shoot a bow. Swing dance, line dance, and fire dancing are all out there for you to explore.

It’s a big day for the stage in Carson City. Under the lights of the Performance Hall at the Brewery Art Center, the four primary candidates for Carson City Mayor and for State Assembly District 40 will participate in a forum hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Get to know the people you will see on the June Ballot. At the Bob Boldrick Theater, the Carson High Musical Theater Ensemble will perform for their last time this school year. If you’d like to overcome your inhibitions about public speaking or just improve your skills: the Toastmasters may be the group for you.

A new exhibit has hit town. Over the weekend, the Nevada Artists Association welcomed new works for its Imagination show. Take a moment and explore all the downtown area galleries: the Community Building by City Hall, the gallery upstairs of in the Courthouse, the Sierra Room in the Community Center, and the walls of the Visitor Center. Grab your cowboy boots and learn to line dance at Carson Lanes. Sassafras welcomes Judith and Rocky to the stage for a jazz jam as fun and funky as their menu.

I think we are all learning to take advantage of sunny spring days when they arrive. Appreciate the new blooms as you explore the historic downtown as part of a City-sponsored scavenger hunt. The Mile High Jazz Band takes over Comma Coffee tonight with Merry May Jazz. Learn the ins and outs of fire spinning if you head to the Controlled Burn Community Practice at A to Zen. Let the Carson Chamber Singers transport you to Broadway: their spring concert is tonight at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Tuesday has arrived and brings with it a splash of art, cinema, and nature. The Nevada Discovery Ride is the reason for a fundraiser and fair at Sierra Place Senior Living: learn about the ride, Nevada’s wild horses, gold-panning and more. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club brings ole blue eyes, Frank Sinatra, to the Brewery Arts Center: The Man with the Golden Arm is this month’s movie. Late artist, Craig Shephard, will be honored at the Nevada Arts Council this evening.

Welcome to Tuesday, Carson City. Dance yourself through the evening with Country Line Dance at Carson Lanes, or if you prefer a big band sound, a beginning lesson in swing dance is at El Charro Avita. Get a good view of our valley from the Kings Canyon Trail with today’s Parks and Rec Easy Walk. The Clear Creek Bowman have started up Tuesday Night Archery for the season, so head out to the range and let a few arrows fly.

Happy Anniversary, Mile High Jazz Band. Every second Tuesday they play a concert at Comma Coffee, and have for fifteen years. Help them celebrate. Grab your dancing shoes and head to Carson Lanes and learn some country line dancing. Kids won’t want to miss Craft Day at the Carson City Library: all supplies are free and waiting. It’s an evening of illusion at the Brewery Arts Center. Be dazzled and help raise funds for the Carson Middle School Band Program.
