Carson City sheriff's overnight arrest log

A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of Spooner Drive on felony suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation.

According to the arrest report, officers were called to a home regarding a dispute that escalated.

Progress continues with Mt. Rose Highway repaving, improvement project

As crews make good progress on a project to repave and enhance the Mt. Rose Highway, the Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that paving continues on an upper segment of the highway.

Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through July 27

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of July 20-27, 2014: There will be road work on the section of Timberline Drive between both intersections with Prospect Drive. This section will be open to local traffic only, and through traffic will be detoured onto Prospect Drive.

There will be utility work primarily in the street shoulder on weekdays at the following locations. Minimal delays are possible.

— Gulch Road between Wagon Wheel Road and Combs Canyon Road.
— Lakeview Road west of Combs Canyon Road.
— Sandy Circle.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of July 14-20, 2014. There will be road work on the section of Timberline Drive between both intersections with Prospect Drive. This section will be open to local traffic only, and through traffic will be detoured onto Prospect Drive.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of July 7-13, 2014. On Wednesday, July 9, the outside northbound lane on Carson Street will be closed at the intersection with Washington Street due to utility work.
 
There will be road work on the section of Timberline Drive between both intersections with Prospect Drive.  This section will be open to local traffic only, and through traffic will be detoured onto Prospect Drive.
 
There will be utility work primarily in the street shoulder on weekdays at the following locations.  Minimal delays are possible.

NDOT to finish Mt. Rose repave project ahead of schedule

A repave along the bottom section of Mt. Rose Highway in Washoe County should be done by Thursday, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Paving work from the base of the highway at South Virginia Street to Timberline Drive in the Montreux area should be finished in time for the July 4 holiday weekend with some with minor roadside enhancement work over the next few weeks, said NDOT spokeswoman Meg Ragonese.

NDOT halts projects beginning Thursday for July 4 holiday travel

Beginning Thursday, the Nevada Department of Transportation will temporarily suspend major work on state road projects over the Fourth of July holiday weekend for easier travel.

There will not be construction-related lane closures beginning the morning of Thursday, July 3 and evening of Sunday, July 6 for NDOT projects including Kingsbury Grade, Mt. Rose Highway, U.S. 50 (Moundhouse-area) and other road work.

Clear Creek Trail

Looking for some new singletrack to ride? Just south of Carson City is the new Clear Creek Trail! The Clear Creek Trail is almost 10.5 miles long, is open to hikers, mountain bikes, equestrians and dogs, has no exit, and is currently 21-miles round-trip.

In our many wanderings in the Great Outdoors in the last few years, Elaine and I have encountered all kinds of wildlife and birds; and I thought that it might be fun to share some of those encounters in the hope that, you too, might also experience some unforgettable memories.

Snow goes bye bye…winds kick up Monday and Tuesday

A series of snowmakers has come and gone leaving 12-18″ of snow on the valley floors in Carson City and Reno. Higher amounts fell in the foothills like Timberline and Lakeview.

More Snow on the way…

The weather service has issued a winter storm warning for moderate snowfall starting late Saturday morning, increasing through the evening hours and continuing off and on through Sunday evening.

Carson City offices including the Library is open.

Snowfall update: Snowplows are concentrating on the westside of Carson where snowfall has been heaviest. Plows will return to eastside ASAP.
