Two decades of searching and planning came to an end Thursday night for Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV), a Carson City-based 501(c)3 registered non-profit whose story goes back nearly 40 years.

Carson City Ward 2 Supervisor Brad Bonkowski will hold “Breakfast with Brad” on Friday, August 4, from 7:00 to 8:00 am at the Cracker Box restaurant. Bonkowski hosts the coffee gatherings as a way to get Carson City residents involved in city issues.

Tickets for the 2017 Taste of Downtown sold out, Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV) Executive Director Lisa Lee said Tuesday, making this year one of the most successful yet for the local non-profit dedicated to ending domestic abuse crimes in Northern Nevada.

Here are the 2017 Taste of Downtown Carson City “Best of” winners picked by ticketed participants of Saturday’s 24th annual event to benefit Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

Downtown Carson City streets were overflowing with people Saturday night during the 24th annual Taste of Downtown, the signature fundraising benefit for Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV).

It’s almost like Christmas Day for some of us locals: the long awaited Taste of Downtown has finally arrived. Food, drink, live music, rubbing elbows with friends and neighbors, and a new wine-tasting add-on make this one of the best parties of the year. The morning brings an unparalleled opportunity: you’ve got one chance to walk, run, or bike right down the middle of the freeway before the new bypass is open to vehicle traffic alone. Grab your favorite four-legged friend and head to Adele’s: Dining for Dog Town is a delicious way to help out this amazing rescue organization.

Several new participants have joined the flavorful festivities of Taste of Downtown in Carson City this Saturday now making it 42 establishments providing great food and hospitality.

A whirlwind of a weekend is on its way and you may as well get it off to an incredible start. Stop by Living the Good Life and celebrate their third anniversary with an outdoor concert featuring Soul Connection. Telegraph Square has a stage set up for the Taste of Downtown tomorrow, so the Carson High Class of ’77 is hosting a street party with Prey for Son tonight. All Carson Alums (along with everyone else) are encouraged to come say hello.

The weekend is inching closer, and bringing with it one of Carson City’s favorite events – The Taste of Downtown. The annual fundraiser for the Advocates to End Domestic Violence brings everyone downtown for samplings from our local restaurants, live music, and a good time had by all. Stay busy and the week will just fly by.

What started as a small bit of hope 24 years ago, the annual Taste of Downtown has transformed into one of the most anticipated events of summer.

In the world of used cars, there is used and then is Carson Car Center used.

"Our used inventory is different from other used inventory, because 80 percent of our cars are slightly pre-owned," said Carson Car Center General Manager Wayne Lew. "Used 2015, 2016 and 2017 cars make up the majority of the lot."

Local restaurants and eateries fed thousands at the 2016 Taste of Downtown event held July 23 in downtown Carson City, generating tens of thousands of dollars for Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV) and its shelter.

My first experience at Thick Slice Pizza in Carson City was during last month's Taste of Downtown event. In general, what you get from vendor booths is literally a taste, or two, of their best food.

Results of the 2016 Taste of Downtown Carson City fundraiser for Advocates to End Domestic Violence (AEDV) are in, and Red's Old 395 Grill on South Carson Street claimed the Best Overall award out of the nearly 40 restaurants competing at Saturday's event.

Sunday is the last chance for celebrity sightings at Edgewood Golf Resort in at south shore Lake Tahoe as the American Century Celebrity Championship tournament comes to a close. Learn about the legacy of Douglas County’s Dangberg family from the rancher’s grandson, author Steve Archard. Locals enjoy a special price on the Virginia and Truckee steam train, or the McKeen Motor car at the Nevada Railroad Museum.

Curry Street, from Third to Spear, was jammed with vendor tents and thousands of walking palates eager to get a taste of downtown Carson City.

I really hope I’m not required to choose a favorite event. I would be hard pressed to choose between the Nevada Day Parade and the annual Taste of Downtown. Luckily, I can adore them both, and for much the same reason. They are a celebration of community, of Carson City, of our historic downtown and all that it has to offer. In addition to 'The Taste', the Brewery Arts Center goes country with the Southern Drawl Band on its outdoor stage, and Madam Curry leads another downtown Ghost Walk. I'm chomping at the bit for Saturday: the Taste of Downtown is almost here. It is one of my absolute favorite events, and one of the most delicious. Grab your tickets at Classy Seconds Thrift Store or the Purple Avocado. A jazz jam with Tom Stryker at Living the Good Life is a great way to soothe the soul.

This Saturday would have traditionally been the date of the 23rd Taste of DownTown, hosted by Advocates to End Domestic Violence. However, the date has been changed to July 23.

In honor of Advocates' would-be 23rd anniversary, the first 23 people who purchase tickets online this Saturday, June 18, will receive a free Advocates to End Domestic Violence water bottle.

The Nevada Appeal had a letter-to-the-editor (dated May 1, 2016) stating:
The Downtown Project is more than aesthetics and declared: “Seventy percent of the total expenditures of the downtown project, currently underway, are for vital infrastructure improvements that are failing and run right down the middle of Carson Street under the medians.”

Organizers behind Taste of Downtown Carson City, a benefit for Advocates to End Domestic Violence, have made the official date official: Mark your calendars for July 23, 2016 for the 23rd annual Taste of Downtown.

In the age of hipster coffeehouses springing forth on every corner, sometimes you just want the original. For Carson City residents that’s Comma Coffee, that celebrated 15 years of brewing bliss, on Saturday following the Nevada Day Parade.

This summer, Carson City and surrounding communities have experienced domestic violence at alarming rates. Kirsten Krasovec and Carson City Sheriff's Office Deputy Carl Howell were both killed at the hands of domestic violence abusers, and local shelters have been filled to capacity for months now.

The Carson Nugget in Carson City is kicking off a series of free outdoor concerts at the historic Laxalt Plaza adjacent to the Carson Nugget Casino beginning Saturday, Sept. 5, Labor Day Weekend. The first band in the series will be Mo’z Motley Blues Band who entertained during Taste of Downtown. They have a strong local following due to their versatility and infectious stage performance.

Are you ready for the weekend, Carson City? I know that the Taste of Downtown is hard to beat, but the new Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly has thrown its hat in the ring. Live music, vendors, competitions that test motorcycle driving skill and moustache growing ability. The brewfest and tasting is tomorrow night, but the fun will begin today at noon. Shine up your hot rod, the Karson Kruzers’ Run Whatcha Brung Show hits Fuji Park tomorrow, but you can register and show off your ride tonight in the Carson Nugget Parking Lot.

Here are the winners of the 21st annual Taste of Downtown Carson City. Saturday's event, which brought thousands to the downtown area and had more than 40 restaurants represented in the mix, was the main fundraiser for Advocates to End Domestic Violence. The winners were voted on by ticket holders of the main event.

Carson City community members flooded downtown for Taste of Downtown Saturday evening with their appetites ready to taste the delicious foods prepared by local businesses. Taste of Downtown gave guests a wide range of dinner entrees, promoted local businesses and supported Advocates to End Domestic Violence.
