Carson City Kiwanis to host 7th Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day on Sept. 19 at Silver Oak

Carson City Kiwanis will host the 7th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day fundraiser on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City, NV. The net proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the Marilyn Elaine Academic Scholarship, awarded annually to local high school graduates.

Brew Run Event at Bully's this Thursday

Join us at Bully's this Thursday, for another challenging edition of the Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club's Brew Run.

Pick your own distance, or complete a loop for up to approximately 5 miles (road/trail).

If you are new to this route, the first mile or so is on road. The rest of the trail is mostly single track.

The 30th annual Nevada Day Classic Run/Walk kicked-off the weekend festivities in Carson City on Saturday.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region Friday through Sunday to celebrate Nevada Day. Activities include the annual parade down Carson Street, a carnival at Mills Park, the 30th annual Nevada Day Classic, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, beard and rock drilling contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit kids and adults of all ages.

Happy birthday Nevada: How, when and where to celebrate Nevada Day 2016 events

Nevada is one of the few states that celebrate its Admission Day, and boy do we throw a party. A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.

The party begins Friday this year with a ribbon cutting celebration of the 'new' downtown. The Nevada State Museum hits its 75th Anniversary this year and will have a day full of fun and surprises. The Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club presents the 14th Annual Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Runs. Carson City plays host as the event headquarters. Runners packets are being distributed today, Friday, in the legislative mall.

This three day event with over 550 participants and at least as many volunteers, began in 2001 as a 50 Mile and 50 Kilometer Endurance Run. The 100 Mile event was added in 2006 and is an internationally recognized Ultra Event.

27th Nevada Day Classic to Benefit Guide Dogs for the Blind

Since 1989 the annual Nevada Day Classic, an 8K Run or 2-mile Run/Walk presented by the Tahoe Mountain Milers, brings together hundreds of runners and walkers of all shapes and sizes — as Halloween costumes are encouraged — who hit the streets of the historic West Side of Carson City with Guide Dog Puppies-in-Training serving as course marshals to woof them on! Families and groups can participate in the walk, enjoy the race breakfast, and help celebrate Nevada by enjoying the Nevada Day Parade that immediately follows the Classic.

Couple finds physical therapy along Carson City mountain trails

Having just finished physical therapy school in 1994, Kevin Bigley and his then-girlfriend Tammie were having trouble finding good-paying jobs in Denver where they lived at the time.

They knew they wanted to live somewhere they could continue rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities. So they checked out the Sierra.

It was a run and walk through downtown Carson City that can only be done the Silver State way here on this Nevada Day. The all-ages Nevada Day Classic Run and Walk is a way to get the blood pumping before the parade starts.

The event, organized by the Tahoe Mountain Milers running club and its members in cooperation with many sponsors, has supported many community organizations over the years. This year’s event benefits Guide Dogs for the Blind.
