Well the weekend sure went fast as we say goodbye to March. Now we're heading into Monday, April 1, 2019 where pranks, larks and tom foolery are orders of the day. No fooling when it comes to the weather though. We may see a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and evening with more of a chance of rain on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

I just returned from Orange, Virginia from a conference held at Montpelier, former US President James Madison's estate. I was chosen among applicants to attend this conference because I think our community needs to know the cool educational opportunities in which teachers are embarking. The conference covered “Gender, Sexual Identity, and the Constitution.”

Good day Carson City and welcome to the work week. It is Monday March 25, 2019. As any Carsonite knows, weather around these parts can change in an instant. And that may happen today with gusty winds to usher in another storm, expected to bring up to 2 feet of snow around Lake Tahoe. The question remains, will the storm produce a little or a lot of rain down here in the valley? Stay tuned.

Here we find ourselves heading into Monday, March 4, 2019. Hark, is there sunshine ahead? Well, yes is the short answer. The longer one is explained by the National Weather Service, which says we are in between weather systems. Take advantage of Monday's sunny weather after the fog lifts and get out for a walk or bike ride. Changes are expected later Tuesday.

Hello Carson City and welcome to this first day of the work week, Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. Hang on tight as today will be especially windy, so much so that we are under a High Wind Warning issued by the National Weather Service.

Were you as surprised as we were Sunday of the lake effect snow storm? Today is a whole new day. Welcome Carson City to Monday, Feb. 18 where all that's left, at least for the next couple days before the next system arrives, is the snow removal. Oh, and it is also President's Day with federal, state and local government offices closed, including schools. Bundle up when headed outside. It is a cold one. Today's high will be in the low 30s.

Good morning, Carson City, and Happy Monday! Be careful on your commute into, out of or around the Nevada state capital this morning. Snow and ice are expected to cover the roadways, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination, and drive safely.

There will be a few extra motorists in Carson City starting today and for the next 120 days as the 2019 Nevada Biennial Legislative Session begins.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Monday, Jan. 28, 2019. Even though we're in the center of winter doesn't mean we can't enjoy the spring-like weather while lasts. Today will bring partly sunny skies with a high around 53. There's a slight chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 50s. Another winter storm is lurking out toward the end of the week so stay tuned.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975, will bring the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra for an intimate show at Casino Fandango’s new Grand Ballroom on March 13.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Monday, Jan. 21, 2019. Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national holiday to honor the civil rights leader. Schools and most all state, local and national government offices are closed for the day. Ahead, skies are clearing and the storm overnight has begun to move out. After 10 a.m. the National Weather services says we will have sunny skies with a high of 39.

Solutions is in full swing, and Carson High School is the only high school in Nevada with this amazing grant. The grant money provides out-of-school-time supports for at-risk students. At risk, a broad term in this grant, includes students who are at risk of not passing a class, at risk of becoming truant, or just in need of a safe-place after school.

With golf season rapidly approaching full swing, the Silver Oak Men’s Club is accepting applications for those 18 and over who desire a welcoming environment to play competitively with friends, co-workers, and even family members.

Good day Carson City. It is Monday, Jan. 14, 2019. A change in the weather is headed our way and will last through the end of the work week, with heavy snow expected in the Sierra and rain and some snow showers down to the valley floors.

Decided where to go to college yet? Filled out all the applications? Been accepted? Now what? As if that was not difficult enough, now comes the time to think about moving, what to take, what not to take, whether or not it is better to live in the dorms or get an apartment. And then there is the toughest question of all: refrigeration? College life is scary at first.

After snow and wind blew into the capital city Sunday and overnight, we are looking at clearing but breezy skies in time for today's inauguration on the capitol grounds. Today is also the first day of classes for Carson City School District after winter break. As of the time of this writing, no delays have been announced.

Light snow showers will continue today and and pick up tonight with less than an inch possible. As always be careful out on the roads. A series of winter storms will push through the Sierra and Carson City region this week.

An increase in political polarization that made it hard to peel off swing voters combined with Democratic successes in turning out their voters, led to Nevada GOP candidates getting walloped, said Rep. Mark Amodei, the only remaining Republican in the state’s congressional delegation.

Tickets are moving fast for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s “Wild and Swingin’ Holiday Party!” at Casino Fandango in Carson City on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Presented by the Brewery Arts Center, the highly anticipated event will be the first concert at the casino’s new Grand Ballroom, which held its official ribbon-cutting in early November. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Here we are, Carson City, on our way to kicking off the holiday season this week with the arrival of Thanksgiving, which means a shortened work week for many. Today is Monday, Nov. 19, 2018.
