Now we're heading into Monday, April 1, 2019 where pranks, larks and tom foolery are orders of the day. No fooling when it comes to the weather though. I just returned from Orange, Virginia from a conference held at Montpelier, former US President James Madison's estate. I was chosen among applicants to attend this conference because I think our community needs to know the cool educational opportunities in which teachers are embarking. The conference covered “Gender, Sexual Identity, and the Constitution.”

The longer one is explained by the National Weather Service, which says we are in between weather systems. Take advantage of Monday's sunny weather after the fog lifts and get out for a walk or bike ride. Changes are expected later Tuesday.

Welcome Carson City to Monday, Feb. 18 where all that's left, at least for the next couple days before the next system arrives, is the snow removal. Oh, and it is also President's Day with federal, state and local government offices closed, including schools. Bundle up when headed outside. It is a cold one. Today's high will be in the low 30s.

Snow and ice are expected to cover the roadways, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination, and drive safely.
There will be a few extra motorists in Carson City starting today and for the next 120 days as the 2019 Nevada Biennial Legislative Session begins.

The grant money provides out-of-school-time supports for at-risk students. At risk, a broad term in this grant, includes students who are at risk of not passing a class, at risk of becoming truant, or just in need of a safe-place after school.

Light snow showers will continue today and and pick up tonight with less than an inch possible. As always be careful out on the roads.
