I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. Downtown has a full day of options, but the back roads may be a little more difficult to navigate due to construction projects. The great music that awaits will be worth the hassle. Read on and you’ll find indoors and outdoors activities that will help alleviate the cabin fever.

Open to kids of all ages, they will bike, run, and swim their way to the finish line. The third annual Sassabration event kicks off with a multi-colored, costume bike parade from the Brewery Arts Center to the celebration at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint. Multiple bands, vendors, non-profit booths, free swimming at the Carson Hot Springs, not to mention the yummy food and drink available make this a not-to-be-missed festival.

Mac the Naw fishing report for Sierra and Tahoe: Labor Day weekend brings free fishing day

Hello fellow anglers, many have been asking, where is the Naw report? I have been fishing in Oregon for the last couple weeks and did quit well. We caught green and blue ling cod and a few black sea bass out of Brooking's.

First woman to swim the length of Lake Tahoe recalls 1962 adventure

Some people, when they first see Lake Tahoe, think how it'd be nice to boat on top of the glass like water. Others imagine fishing on the lake stocked with big fish, while yet others think about how nice it would be to sit at the quiet and scenic shore and enjoy the sun and the view.

To nine year old Erline Christopherson, all she thought when first saw the crystal blue waters was how she'd like to swim across it. The dream was born that day in 1955.

First Flume Trail Ride of the Year

Flume Trail Mountain Bikes officially opened for business on May 12th this year. The light winter snowfall has nearly melted off the lower trails, giving access to Marlette Lake and the Flume Trail. A few of us rode the Flume on Saturday, May 12th to go check it out.

Summer Legs

I love spring time. You whip off the slacks, have a good look at your legs and decide that swimming is out for another year. Now, why do your legs look like that? I'll tell you why, because you sit all day, deny yourself water, eat lots of salty fatty foods, and you DON’T EXERCISE! That's putting the blame where it belongs. No one is happy with the condition of their legs. They're either to fat, too muscular, blue, (veins), or they’re w-a-y too short. And, most legs have funny little areas of puckered skin. It's called Fat. Have a look at your kid's legs.

Fitness on the Wire: Water Fun with Wet Sweat

Are you a little tired of the same fitness routine? Are you hot and sweaty? Try a change of pace from your regular workout style and move your fitness into the swimming pool. Water is a wonderful medium for those of you who enjoy summer exercise.

Carson City’s Aquatic Facility holds Wet Sweat Water Aerobics classes on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00pm, with Monday and Thursday evenings held in the shallow end of the pool with less water resistance and less water weight to lift.

Physical Fitness - Quality of Life

Being physically fit gives you the ability to enjoy life. It's called "quality of life".

With so many new types of exercise available maybe it’s time to define quality of life and how you achieve it. When you work on physical fitness, you enhance the physiological capacity of your body. You increase the ability to stay with a task longer and increase the range and weight of the task. Your heart will beat slower with more blood behind each beat, and generate more oxygen to your muscles. Who cares? You should!
