The next Carson City Board of Supervisor’s meeting will take place Thursday, Jan. 21 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room in the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Up for discussion includes improvements to the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range, Grants for emergency housing, the proposed Little Lane Village subdivision and more.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting this Thursday, 1 p.m. to discuss and take possible action regarding the appointment of a person to fill an anticipated vacancy in the office of Ward 3 Supervisor on the Board of Supervisors for a term that begins Jan. 4, 2021 and ends Jan. 1, 2023.

The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the 2020-2021 county’s Tentative Budget on April 1, 2020. The County Manager and Comptroller have recommended the budget with no salary increases and a projected 6.6% ending fund balance which is lower than the 16.67% authorized by Nevada Revised Statutes.

The County Manager also recommended that the Board not fund any of the 35.8 positions requested by the various departments including:

1 Public Works Director

During the last week, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies in the Dayton Patrol area have investigated a string of burglaries along the Highway 50 corridor in Dayton.

The suspects were targeting closed businesses and breaking and entering those businesses looking for anything of value.

The Dayton Regional Advisory Board will be discussing a new development plan for the Sage Vista subdivision at their upcoming March 4 meeting.

A new subdivision of 96 single family homes was approved by Lyon County Commissioners early this month, which will be built near the Sutro Heights subdivision in Dayton. A proposed Silver Springs mobile home park, which would provide workforce rental housing, was denied.

The Andersen Ranch Estates project was discussed at length — almost four hours in fact — at Thursday’s Carson City Board of Supervisor’s meeting, before being approved by the board on a 4-1 vote.

The first significant winter storm of 2020 will be blowing into the region Thursday afternoon, bringing gusty winds, heavy snow in the Sierra and 1-2 inches of snow possible in the lower valleys. The Andersen Ranch Estates Subdivision will be one topic of discussion at the upcoming Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting tomorrow, Thursday Jan. 16.

The proposed development plan for the new subdivision was approved at the December planning commission meeting, during which the commission recommended approval of the project map with a 4-2 vote, with one vote absent.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Investigation Division is seeking information on the identity of a suspect who is seen on video attempting to steal a package from a residence over the weekend.

The days keep moving along, ever closer to the weekend and huge helpings of Christmas holiday activities. Thursday events around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting with the developer of the proposed Andersen Ranch, a presentation: "Feathers and Furs of the Carson Valley" at the River Fork Ranch, an "End to Prohibition Party" at Gather restaurant, and more.

Taking advantage of the winter storms and getting their creative side going, south Carson City residents Moses Ellis and Josh Tuttle set out Monday to turn snow into works of art.

Christy Corporation, Ltd. will host an informal neighborhood meeting to present a proposed development plan for Andersen Ranch Estates, which includes the 48.2 acres located west of Mountain Street, east of Ormsby Boulevard in west Carson City.

Residents overflowed a small conference room of the Carson City Library Friday afternoon where a public meeting was held to discuss plans for the proposed Andersen Ranch Estate subdivision. The developer, Christy Corporation LTD., hosted the meeting to discuss their lot plans. They also opened the floor to current residents of the neighborhood to voice their questions and concerns.

In the wake of today's high winds, several homes on the west side of Carson City are again being inundated by tumbleweeds, most of which nearby residents claim are coming from the nearby Andersen Ranch, and the city isn't doing enough to stop it.

While haze from nearby Sierra fires may linger some, we're looking at another pleasant fall day around the capital city heading into Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019. Events locally include a ribbon cutting and outdoor moving showing at the new Schulz Ranch Park, workshops, a women's safety meeting, a pumpkin patch for kids at Carson Mall, plus art showings and public talks. After hours it will be toasts, cheers and business networking all around at the Dayton Taphouse. Enjoy the day.

Carson City and Lennar Homes will host the grand opening of Schulz Ranch Park this Wednesday, Oct. 16. Schulz Ranch Park is the first new park in Carson City in 12 years.

Built by Lennar Homes, the park is owned by Carson City, with maintenance funded through the City’s first Landscape Maintenance District. The 3.5-acre park, located in the Schulz Ranch subdivision, is at the corner of Race Track Road and Wheeler Peak Drive, is home to the second universally accessible playground in Carson City.

Northern Nevada Development Authority will heat things up with a presentation by Southwest Gas at The Business Edge meeting in Carson City this Wednesday, Sept. 25. Southwest Gas will present business energy-cost saving tips, natural gas as an energy source, and their renewable energy initiatives in Nevada.

At the Carson City Board of Supervisor’s meeting Thursday, Sept. 19, the Board voted to accept tentative maps for three new subdivisions.

The subdivisions are to be placed in the Schulz Ranch neighborhood, the second off Little Lane, and the third on E. Roland Street.
