The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Writing from Mars," by artist Rick Parsons at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, February 2, 5-7pm. The exhibit will be in the gallery from February 2 – May 23, 2018.

A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of two counts assault with a deadly weapon following an incident involving a pocket knife, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Lyon County man gets life sentence with chance of parole in death of toddler in 2015

A Fernley man was sentenced this week to life in prison with a chance at parole in 10 years after pleading guilty to second degree murder in the death of a two-year-old child in May 2015, according to the Lyon County District Attorney.

UPDATE 9:16AM: At least 59 people died and at least 500 wounded in Sunday night's sniper shooting, said Las Vegas Metro Police Department Sheriff Joseph Lombardo. It is the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Both vehicles associated with the now deceased shooter, Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, have been located as has the female person of interest, Paddock's companion Marilou Danley.

His two to three day 90-mile crossings (one way) carrying the mail and valuable packages of up to 100 pounds on his back through the snow have never been physically duplicated, not even with modern equipment.
