Sierra Nevada Ballet welcomes the spring season with the annual production of Brew, Bräts and Ballet: A Celebration of Choreography with performances in Carson City and Reno beginning this weekend.

Sierra Nevada Ballet welcomes in the Spring Season with the annual production of Brew, Brats and Ballet-A Celebration of choreography on April 6 (7:30 PM) and April 7 (2:00 PM) at the Reno Little Theater and on April 13 (7:00 PM) at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

This year the BBB presentation features six different choreographers with each one presenting a special short work and a short talk before it. The program culminates with a post performance Q and A session between choreographers and audience.

This is going to be an epic Fathers’ Day weekend. Carson City Off-Road sponsored by Epic Rides has taken over downtown with everything mountain bike and plays host to a free Music Festival in McFadden Plaza. CARSON CITY — The Nevada State Railroad Museum opened its doors to the steampunk craze three years ago and the event has proven to be so popular, this year’s event is branching out with a tip of the hat to Burning Man and into a full-on Arts and Culture Day at the Museum.

Fashions and steam technology of the Victorian Era collided Saturday with those of science fiction fantasy, creating a steampunk revival on the grounds of the Nevada State Railroad Museum (NSRM) in South Carson City.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. The Carson Airport Fly-In and Open House has plenty of aeronautic fun in store. You’ll have to keep reading for all of the fun options in Carson City and the surrounding valleys.

This weekend will bring a fusion of Steampunk, trains and brews to the capital city. Steampunk ’n’ Trains will run 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, then the Capital City Brewfest kicks off 5 p.m. in downtown.

Science fiction fantasy and historic reality will come together this Saturday and Sunday at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. Or to put it simply: Steampunk meets steam trains.

Reading the creative works of famous science fiction writers was only half of the class requirements for Mary Gillespie’s English class students this fall semester at Western Nevada College. The other part of the class tapped into the artistic creativity of her students.

I’m usually a lover of sunny days, but right now I say bring on the rain. The moisture is a welcome help to our heroic firefighters in Lake Tahoe and Washoe Valley. Because of the wet weather and the recent fires, some activities have been postponed: most notably the Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Light After Dark Run. In the world premiere of Constant Coogan's "Bury Me Alive" music video, fans are immediately met with the soaring melodies and stunning vocals that Constant Coogan has become so well known for since the release of their July 1st album of the same name. The video is a true work of art, featuring talent from the dance students at Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company.

The inaugural Carson City Off-Road racing series, part of the Epic Rides mountain biking circuit, was more than successful.

Part art and fashion, metal and mechanics, the Steampunk movement comes to the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City for a Father’s day celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18. Historic and futuristic at the same time, the movement melds creativity and imagination with the power of heavy equipment — sort of Victorian Era meets the science fiction.

Entries are open now for the second annual Lake Tahoe WordWave One-Act Play Competition. “WordWave, A Festival of Story at Lake Tahoe,” will return Oct. 21-23 to the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Winners of the play competition receive a $500 cash prize and the chance to see their work directed and produced as a staged reading on the historic Boathouse Theatre stage.

Starting a brewery from scratch in a building dating back to the mid-1800s is not without its challenges, unless as the saying goes, your vision is bigger than any obstacle. Virginia City Brewery and Taphouse, celebrating its anniversary, is fueled by a vision to bring brewing back a town with deep roots in the craft: Virginia City, Nevada.

Writers, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe this weekend for WordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site.

Cool prizes will go to the most interesting looks of the night. This event kicks off the inaugural Tahoe WordWave festival and will benefit art and culture in South Lake Tahoe.
