Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. According to Ivet Contreras of IC Media Strategy, the fact that Nevada’s State Senate has a female-led majority, the first in the U.S., was a part of the decision to tour the government grounds today.

Senate Bill 358 would require power companies to get 50 percent of their energy from renewable sources by 2030.

The longer one is explained by the National Weather Service, which says we are in between weather systems. Take advantage of Monday's sunny weather after the fog lifts and get out for a walk or bike ride. Changes are expected later Tuesday.
Nevada State Museum offers new volunteer training in Carson City

The museum is recruiting for volunteers, who will get a multi-day in-depth jaunt through the museum’s collections and operations.
The Nevada State Museum was voted the best museum in rural Nevada by the readers of Nevada Magazine in 2018. It couldn’t have received that recognition without the cadre of volunteers who help out on a daily basis, said Director Myron Freedman.
