The Statewide Volunteer Award echoes a sense of pride within the Sheriff’s Office, as only one other from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department was selected for this prestigious award.

V&T Railway ends season this weekend with steam, 150th anniversary and Toast of the Canyon trains

Hot rods, rat rods and more: Rockabilly Riot returns to Carson City beginning Thursday

Nevada State Parks will be 'fee-free' Sept. 28 in honor of Nevada Public Lands Day

Park fees, including entrance, camping (Saturday night) and boating, where applicable, will be waived at state parks throughout Nevada.

V&T Railway holds auditions for 2019 Polar Express at Carson City Eastgate Depot

The railway is looking for actors, actresses and singers, age 13 and up to play roles from the popular movie including stewards and conductors, elves and Santa Claus.
Citizen Patrol Volunteer

We provide VIN verifications for people bringing in vehicles from out of state; we do vacation checks for residents while they are traveling; we enforce handicap parking; and red tag and tow abandoned vehicles as needed. We also assist with traffic control whenever the Sheriff’s Department needs assistance and help with special events.

Nevada Arts Council announces fiscal year 2020 grant recipients

Carson City Mint 150 lecture, programs featured Saturday

Recognizing March is also Women’s History Month, the museum is presenting the lecture “Women Workers of the Carson City U.S. Mint,” as its March “Mint150” event. The museum’s curator of history, Bob Nylen, will present the lecture at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16.
