Carson City Historical Society - Holiday Party

The Carson City Historical Society will hold their annual Holiday Party at the Bliss Mansion, located at 608 Elizabeth St. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM. A light buffet lunch will be catered by A Catered Affaire, consisting of salads, sandwiches and desserts.

Robert Nylen, Curator of History at the Nevada State Museum will give an informative talk on The Carson City Mint Building: A Community Icon – approaching 150 years old in 2020.

There will also be a report on the activities and accomplishments of the Carson City Historical Society for the past year.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the Nevada State Museum in Carson City will be hosting a special event: “Armistice: Commemorating the End of the Great War" on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Overnight State Route 28 road closures at Lake Tahoe planned for installation of pathway bridge

CARSON CITY — The first in a series of overnight full road closures on State Route 28 south of Incline Village at Lake Tahoe will take place Oct. 29-31 as the Nevada Department of Transportation installs bridges on the State Route 28 shared used path.

For my 2019 Senior Project, a Carson High School graduation requirement, I chose to be the coordinator and director of the annual junior cheer camp because I want to increase my knowledge and understanding on how to put on a special event; I also desire to improve my personal leadership, communication, and delegation skills.

Buffalo Bill's Wild West Returns to Dangberg Historic Park

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West returns to Dangberg Historic Park for a third year on Saturday, August 25 with festivities beginning at 2 p.m. This is the park’s final special event of the 2018 Dangberg Summer Festival, focused on raising funds to support the operation and future of the park.

There have always been ordinances regarding what is and is not permitted for business signage, but often these rules were pushed to the limits due to codes that were difficult to enforce. Now, a proposed change to business signage ordinances could see these rules being more strictly enforced, as well as creating additional avenues for signage to be displayed.

Nevada law enforcement agencies join forces in August for pedestrian safety

Nevada's two largest counties have seen 29 lives lost since the New Year. Clark County has had 26 pedestrian deaths while Washoe County has had 3 pedestrian deaths. The Nevada Highway Patrol will be Joining Forces with law enforcement statewide from August 6-24, 2018 to enforce pedestrian laws for both drivers and pedestrians.

Hot August Nights cruises into 'Biggest Little City' with new and expanded events

RENO — More than 6,000 vehicles will call the streets of Northern Nevada home for the 32nd Annual Hot August Nights festival. The week-long celebration commences in the historic mining town of Virginia City, Nev. on Friday, Aug. 3 to Saturday, Aug. 4. Then it's down the mountainside to the Main Event in Reno-Sparks starting Sunday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch.
