Beginning at 1 p.m., every student in the school hustled to the CHS big gym to prepare for and celebrate everything from the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes to the upcoming crowning of the 2016 Homecoming Queen and King.

Take the kids to Minden Park for the final family concert in their GE Series: Foreigner Unauthorized begins at 6 p.m. Shine up the chrome for the Carson SYFL Car Show at Bully’s Sports Bar, and catch some NFL pre-season while you’re there. The sixth annual Hopefest Concert and Fundraiser at Carson Tahoe Hospital kicks off at 5 p.m. Enjoy food trucks, live music with the Waybacks, and more at the free, family friendly event. McFadden Plaza is where you’ll find Jazz and Beyond’s concert with the Jackie Landrum Band, Living the Good Life is serving up a performance by Prey for Son, or take the stage yourself at Carson Lanes’ karaoke. A walk with Parks and Rec, a movie viewing with the Classic Cinema Club, and life-sized board games at the Library are all on the docket for today. The big story, of course, is National Night Out with the Carson City Sheriff's Department. Free food, activities, fun, and even an aircraft or two descend on Mills Park for the annual party.

Ladies may want to join in on the Muscle Powered Bike Ride to Ash Canyon. London artist, Stewart Easton hosts an embroidery workshop at the Silver City Schoolhouse. Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.

Winters Centennial Park Complex in northeast Carson City for the 17th Annual All World Sports Midnight Madness slow-pitch softball tournament.
Obituary for Edward Arthur King
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 05/28/2016 - 8:45amEdward Arthur King, died May 24, 2016, at Carson Tahoe Medical Center from the effects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was born Dec. 4, 1937, in Los Angeles to Marcus J. and Josephine H. King.
He served in the US Navy, and later worked handling bills of lading and routing for Lee Way Motor Freight in Downey, CA.
He married the former Alyce Devorraux McDonald on Dec. 4, 1975.
In 1985 the couple moved to Carson City, where he was employed as inventory manager for American Building Company. He retired from there in 2006.

After scoring 31 runs and connecting for 27 hits during a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader sweep on Friday, the Wildcats raked Coyotes pitching for 12 hits in a 15-0 opening-game win Saturday in Henderson.
WNC Softball: Robinson plays home run derby

Robinson belted three homers and knocked in 11 runs as the surging Wildcats claimed both ends of a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from rival College of Southern Nevada, 16-4 and 15-1, in Henderson.
WNC Softball: Wildcats make double header sweep Friday against Snow College

With the wind blowing out, home runs seemed to be in the cards, and the Wildcats were dealing them. In game one, WNC put four out of the park to come out on top of the Badgers, 12-6. Noa Talia blasted two home runs to help the Wildcats take the second game, 12-9.

New community baseball league starts in Carson City

The Junior Giants community league, run by the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, is sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, a charitable outreach of the professional sports franchise.
WNC Athletics: Wildcats' baseball pitching too much for Bruins; softball dealt pair of losses

On Saturday afternoon, Flores took advantage of a starting role, blasting a first-inning grand slam as WNC won the opening game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader against Salt Lake, 10-1, at John L. Harvey Field in Carson City.
Carson City coed league softball fires up Friday night with 32 teams for the spring season

According to Carson City Parks and Recreation Recreation Sports Program Supervisor Scott Chapman, 32 coed teams are on tap to play this year, up from 30 last year and 28 the previous year.
WNC Sports: Wildcats softball tops Salt Lake in OT; Baseball brings home pair of wins

Salt Lake is ranked fourth in the latest NJCAA poll, and have only lost four games this season. Pitcher Kristina George earned the win for the Wildcats.
