Tahoe Adventure Film Festival Feb. 23 in Minden

The Douglas High School Interact Club is bringing the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival to the Carson Valley on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

The festival will screen at the CVIC at 1604 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden with doors opening at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. showing. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and are available at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase and a raffle will be held.

The Tahoe Adventure Film Festival is a fast-paced, high-energy evening of highlights from the best adventure sports films of the year.

Carson High to celebrate CTE Month with Governor Sisolak Thursday

Students and educators at Carson High School will celebrate national Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month in an invitation-only event with a special visit from Nevada State Governor Steve Sisolak, Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8:45 a.m. in Senator Square at Carson High School. Event seating begins at 8:30 a.m. with the Governor’s address at 8:45 a.m.

Winter Storm Warning in effect now through Tuesday for Carson City area, region

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Carson City area and greater Reno-Tahoe region in effect now until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Heavy snowfall is forecast for the greater Reno, Carson City and Minden area with total accumulation between 6-12 inches. Up to two feet of snow is forecast for elevations above 5,000 feet.

Senator Square: Speech and Debate Tournament a success at Carson High School

CHS hosted the Northern Nevada Forensic League tournament last weekend.

The Nature Conservancy has named Lori Leonard as the new preserve manager at River Fork Ranch Preserve outside of Genoa.

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce three more teachers earned certification from the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Man arrested after car chase, attempting to run over Carson City Sheriff's deputy

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Sherman and Highway 50 on multiple felonies, including eluding with endangerment and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. Misdemeanor charges included resisting a public officer, reckless driving, and failure to use due care.
