It was an eventful year around the Carson City region notwithstanding the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here's some notable stories that were not pandemic related that happened in 2020.

The concert will take place Saturday, October 13 in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. Williams Street.

SUV and large flatbed truck crash near South Carson and Old Clear Creek, semi leaves scene

UPDATE 3:07PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help locating the red semi truck with a flatbed trailer that ran a red light and hit a Ford SUV, and then left the scene. Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Tuesday afternoon to the area of South Carson Street and Old Clear Creek Road for a crash involving a large flatbed truck and an SUV, in which the truck did not stop after the accident.

NHP: Northbound I-580 traffic reopens near Galena bridge; semi crash on I-80 closes wesbound traffic east of Fernley

UPDATE 7:59PM: I-580 northbound at the Galena Bridge has reopened, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Snow was still coming down at around 8 p.m. The Nevada Department of Transportation has plows and sand trucks in the area. NHP advises the roadway remains icy and snow-covered.

The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to multiple crashes Thursday night, one that involved up to 35 vehicles and closed northbound I-580 near Galena Creek Bridge and the other crash on I-80 east of Fernley that closed westbound traffic.

Highway 50 at Spooner Junction back open

UPDATE 11:20 a.m.- Westbound Highway 50 is back open after this morning's closure due to a semi truck being stuck at the bottom of Spooner Summit.

Currently there are no controls on the road except for chains or snow tires once at the intersection with SR28.

Traffic is being diverted at the intersection of Highway 50 and U.S. 395 in Carson City due to a semi truck being stuck, as well as severe winter road conditions on Spooner Summit.

Kingsbury Grade is also closed indefinitely, due to needed repairs for a sinkhole that has developed in the roadway.
