The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its group show, "Visual Oasis: Works from Creative Growth", at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. The exhibition with art by 17 artists will be in the gallery from through Sept. 27, 2018.

His illustrated talk, "Choices, Chances, and Changes," is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors series and will take place at 6 p.m. at the Union restaurant, 302 W. Proctor St in Carson City.

There will be an informal reception for Salinas preceding the event at 5:30 p.m. No tickets needed; the public is cordially invited.

Ceramic Sculpting at the Brewery Arts Center

The Brewery Arts Center's next sculpting class begins on February 26th. This fun and exciting 8 week class is designed for beginning as well as more experienced students. You will learn techniques in creating non-functional ceramics as you learn to use clay to build artistic sculptures.

Projects will include instruction in a wide range of sculpting methods. You will be exposed to concepts such as composition, weight, color, form, and texture while creating contemporary pieces and beautiful three dimensional ceramic art.

As you drive along Highway 395 during the holiday season, there’s a good chance you’ve noticed the little wooden reindeer wrapped in lights. Those are the Willow Reindeer, and it’s an art project that gets bigger every year.

Hundreds of handcrafted willow reindeer are installed along 62 miles of Highway 395, spanning from south of Gardnerville all the way north of Reno. And now it’s time for them to head back to the North Pole, but it’s a task too large for one man.

Mind of daVinci sculpture goes up at Carson City Community Center

Crews install the Inside the Mind of daVinci sculpture at the Community Center in Carson City, Nev., on Monday. The 10-by-23-foot cement sculpture, created by local artist Mischell Riley, is the first piece of public art purchased by Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority and will be gifted to the city.

Artists readying for statewide art show in Carson City ahead of Nevada Day Parade
