Bistro at Tahoe Ridge still closed, winery open
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Thu, 02/18/2016 - 12:52pmThe Bistro restaurant at Tahoe Ridge Winery remains closed for renovations, winery employees have said, but the winery continues its retail and production operations in the rear of the building.
The bistro closed right after Christmas 2015, and has not reopened. A sign on the front doors of the restaurant stated the bistro was temporarily closed for renovations, and winery employees last month reported the bar area of the bistro was scheduled for a major remodel.
Mystique Restaurant and Lounge to open in December

Owner Yvette Barrett has had her work cut out for her. It has taken three months of major renovations to get the space at 318 North Carson Street — formerly home to the Sassafras restaurant — ready to open the first week of December.
The new upgrades, paint, carpet, fixtures, equipment and flooring are intended to create an atmosphere that is warm, elegant and welcoming, Barrett said.

April gaming revenue climbs in Carson City, falls at Lake Tahoe

Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and all others except for those at Stateline Lake Tahoe that make up the Carson Valley area, report an overall gaming profit of $8,001,991 for the month of April compared to $7,883,290 in April 2013.
'Have a Heart' celebration fundraiser at Glen Eagles generates $31,000 for FISH

This fundraiser will allow FISH to continue renovations on their 50 year old buildings in Carson City and will help in replacing their aging homeless shelter van. Located between Anderson and Walsh streets, the commercial-residential building was unoccupied at the time and construction work on the foundation appeared to have been ongoing with renovations and work being done on the inside.

Ice fishermen in Iowa are having one of the best seasons in years.
From the northern portion of the state to the Mississippi River in our backyard, people are drilling holes in the ice and pulling in fish almost as fast as they can bait their hooks.
Joe Larscheid, Chief of Fisheries for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, said the banner year is no accident.
