Overnight camping at Nevada State Parks will be allowed with capacity restrictions under the governor's reopening directives for Phase 2, beginning this Friday, May 29.

Nevada will move into Phase 2 of its reopening plan on Friday amid downward trends in COVID-19 positivity test rates and hospitalizations — a transition that will allow additional venues including churches, gyms and bars to reopen.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, May 26 2020 that there are 2 new positive cases and 3 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 176, with 128 recoveries and four deaths, 44 cases remain active.

UPDATE: Late Tuesday afternoon it was announced that Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak canceled a planned press conference. He will instead address Nevadans in a videotaped message. In a news release from the Governor's Office it noted that late last week Gov. Sisolak had visited a work place where an employee — who was not in the building at the time — has since reported testing positive for COVID-19. The Governor’s Office learned of the positive test result on Tuesday.

Carson City Health and Human Services reports Monday, May 25, 2020 that there are 5 new positive cases and 3 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 174, with 125 recoveries and four deaths, 45 cases remain active.

(Carson City, NV)- Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to four. The individual was a male Carson City resident in his 60’s. It is unknown at this time if he had underlying health conditions.

The Quad-County Emergency Operations Center in Carson City reported Monday, May 18, 2020 a third death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a male Carson City resident in his 80’s. It is unknown at this time if he had underlying conditions.

RENO — With wildland fires eating up the forests and rangelands of Nevada each summer, and fire season now upon us, University of Nevada, Reno scientists are examining how drought, climate change and land management will affect future fire activity and how fires can in turn influence plant, soil and hydrologic processes.

The Northern Nevada Development Authority has developed a COVID-19 Action and Safety Plan template in coordination with the Sierra Region County Leadership and its Chamber of Commerce partners.

Lyon County officials have reviewed the Nevada United Roadmap to Recovery plan as introduced by the Governor on April 30, 2020. The Governor’s Office provided Lyon County with a questionnaire to determine the County’s ability to enter Phase 1 of the plan.

Gov. Steve Sisolak announced an “active transition” in the next 15 days toward reopening a moribund economy, giving the clearest guidelines yet as to how the shuttered state will take steps to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday morning, the Douglas County Commissioners, along with a loud procession of supporters, travelled to Carson City to deliver, in unison, a letter asking the state to allow Douglas County to reopen.

MINDEN — Douglas County Board of County Commissioners held a special meeting Wednesday regarding recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and economic impacts to local business. The board decided unanimously to draft a letter to Nevada Gov. Sisolak in support of re-opening Douglas County and was to hand-deliver the letter Thursday morning.

Gov. Steve Sisolak says he plans to extend the state’s stay-at-home order but will begin easing restrictions on retail curbside pickup and outdoor activities after the state’s COVID-19 caseload and deaths plateau.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Education released Wednesday its Path Forward Plan – Responding to COVID-19 to support schools and districts in continuing to provide educational opportunities to all students.

Gov. Steve Sisolak said he will be unveiling a plan Thursday detailing Nevada’s recovery, a step that’s been anticipated as other states begin reopening their economies.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak took to social media Monday morning, saying Nevada will join California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington in the Western States Pact to curb the spread of COVID-19 and re-open businesses shut down due to the virus.
