There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. Fundraiser for Carson City mom battling cancer is Saturday at Flat Earth Pizza

A fundraiser for a Carson City mother who is currently battling stage 4 breast, bone and liver cancer is set for this Saturday, April 27 at Flat Earth Pizza.

The fundraiser for Mila Mangone of Carson City is from opening to closing, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the pizza restaurant, located at 2010 E William Street. Portions of the proceeds collected at the fundraiser will help Mila's treatment plan.

Carson High School class of '79 Reunion

The Carson City High School class of 1979 will celebrate it's 40 year reunion the weekend of July 19-21. Our banner across downtown Carson Street welcomes home all alumni. The Plaza Hotel, downtown Carson City is providing discounted rooms for the weekend. A Meet and greet scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday night at Living the Good Life.

Live band, One Way Street will provide the Rock & Roll music and Carson City BBQ providing award winning cuisine, all for our enjoyment. Saturday, July 20, there are many different activities planned for everyone (golf play, school tour, poker run).

Carson City's Western Nevada College is joining the rest of the world in celebrating environmental protection of the Earth on Monday, April 22.

However, WNC will be taking its celebration further by holding activities for the remainder of that week.

Carson City Aquatic Center's second annual Underwater Egg Hunt went swimmingly

For the second year in a row, the Carson City Aquatic Center's Underwater Egg Hunt was a hit, and some could say, went off swimmingly.

Three hundred children pre-registered for the event, which was held in timed sessions in both the main pool and the tot pool. Eggs were dispersed at the pool's surface as well as sunken eggs which children dove for.

Adorable egg-snatching riot breaks out on Nevada Railroad Museum Lawn

The first of two egg hunts at the Nevada Railroad Museum was a hit with the Easter hunters. Eggs filled with prizes, toys and stuffed animals were up for grabs during the hunt which lasted about one entire minute before the lawn was picked clean.

The Easter Bunny was on site for pictures, and inside the museum there will be children’s activities such as face painting, coloring stations, and more.

Festivities will continue throughout Saturday and then Sunday. The schedule is as follows:

Carson City student 1 of 3 winners in nation for Digital Learning Challenge

CARSON CITY — Project Tomorrow, a national education nonprofit group based in Irvine, Calif. hosted a nationwide challenge “Speak Up” to all students, grades K-12, where they submitted viewpoints about key educational issues, particularly concerning digital learning and the use of technology to support future ready schools.

Dan Wilson the Medalist at Silver Oak

Dan Wilson carded the medalist honors with a gross 73 at the second Sunday Men’s Club outing March 24 at Silver Oak golf course. Money winners were Wilson and Frank Maricich with low net (after handicap is applied) 66s in the first flight, followed by Wes Camp and Brian Sweet tied for third place with 68.

Carson City Public Works to host May open house

Senator Square: First generation college graduate shares his story with CHS students

Sergio Trejo Jr., a Las Vegas native and first-generation college graduate, visited several Carson City schools recently to share his inspiring story about his admittance to medical school. Trejo presented to more than 150 students.

Salvation Army Fundraiser Car Show Sept. 14

Thursday Night Cruise Car Show, benefiting the Salvation Army, will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at the Salvation Army offices, 911 E. Second Street between Harbin and Pratt avenues, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $20 a day of registration costs $25.

Awards for first, second, third place and Best of Show will be presented at 2 p.m.

The event will feature food, music, a 50/50 raffle and Chinese raffle with door prizes.

The car show will help with the Salvation Army's building fund. All vehicles are welcomed and motorcycles, too.

Carson High School musicians achieve superior rating

Both Carson High School Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands achieved superior ratings, the highest possible rating.

Twelve bands from Churchill, Douglas, Fernley and Dayton competed in the Northern Zone Nevada Music Educators Association High School Band Festival at the Carson City Community Center on March 7, 2019.
