MINDEN — The Douglas County Planning Commission completed its work to review and update the 2020 Master Plan text and published a draft to the Douglas County website for the public to review and comment.

As a year with unprecedented challenges for small businesses comes to a close amid another COVID-19 surge, University of Nevada, Reno Extension will offer a free online town hall to provide small businesses with information to help them make some important year-end decisions. The English-language session will be this Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 9 a.m.; and the Spanish-language session will be next Wednesday, Dec. 9, 5:30 p.m.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, in partnership with NV Energy and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, is seeking public comment on the NV Energy Resilience Corridors project. The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department opened three new segments of trail following an Oct. 30 ribbon cutting. These fun new trails are part of a network of non-motorized paths that connect residents with almost 5,000 acres of Carson City Parks and Open Space within the Carson River/Prison Hill area. Douglas County was notified on Nov. 1, 2020 that a Douglas County employee who has been involved in the election processes, tested positive for COVID-19. Douglas County has worked closely with Carson City Health and Human Services on contact tracing related to the positive case.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting this Thursday, 1 p.m. to discuss and take possible action regarding the appointment of a person to fill an anticipated vacancy in the office of Ward 3 Supervisor on the Board of Supervisors for a term that begins Jan. 4, 2021 and ends Jan. 1, 2023.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public and Behavioral Health announced Friday the submission of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Playbook for Statewide Operations to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The teachers of CHS are asking if this is still true? Of course it is. Men, women, and children of Carson City are encouraged to purchase a T-shirt to support both breast cancer awareness and CHS teacher Kelly Gustafson, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Carson City is in the process of updating the City’s Strategic Plan and the community is asked to weigh in. The City is administering an online survey at carson.org/survey to gauge overall community input on the proposed goals and objectives intended to steer City operations for the next five years.

Nevada’s State Parks will be the topic of discussion at the Rotary Club of Carson City’s meeting on Tuesday, October 20th.

Guests are welcome to attend the meeting. Nevada State Parks Administrator Bob Mergell will unveil the agency’s new virtual tour of the state’s 27 state parks at the meeting.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting Nevada schoolchildren to participate in the National Association of State Aviation Officials’ art contest celebrating the ways in which aviation, hang gliding, hot air ballooning and other air sports connect people across the world.
