Douglas election worker tests COVID-19 positive, county says election won't be affected

Douglas County was notified on Nov. 1, 2020 that a Douglas County employee who has been involved in the election processes, tested positive for COVID-19. Douglas County has worked closely with Carson City Health and Human Services on contact tracing related to the positive case.

Verne R. Horton of Carson City, Nevada passed away at his residence on October 19, 2020. He was born February 1, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA and is survived by loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Brenda; sons Sean and Scott, daughter Debra, 5 grandchildren and brother, Jim Horton.

Local eatery Juan's Mexican Grill to open second location in downtown Carson City

Juan Salazar first moved to Carson City 16 years ago to be closer to his parents who were, at the time, operating an eatery within Mo and Sluggo's.

Since then, the family has been serving up dishes throughout Carson City, first at Mo and Sluggo's (now Westside Pour House), then at the Horseshoe Club (now closed), and finally at the Comstock Casino, where they remain as Juan's Mexican Grill.
