Carson Comedy Club features hilarious stylings of Rodney Norman this weekend

This Friday and Saturday night will feature the hilarious comedy stylings of veteran performer Rodney Norman at the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget.

Rodney was the winner of the Rhode Island Comedy Festival and was also featured in the Boston Comedy Festival. Rodney is a former Marine with a BS degree in Philosophy. He’s been in the comedy business for 20 years and we are happy to have him on our stage.

Community feedback informs selection of new Carson City Library Director

Feedback from the community will play an integral role in the selection of the Carson City Library’s new director.

“Trustees will be using the interviews and the community input from the meet and greet to select the library director during the May 30 meeting,” said Interim Director Diane Baker. “We appreciate all the input we’ve received from everyone involved.”

More than a dozen community members participated in Friday’s meet and greet, where they asked questions of the three finalists vying for the director position.

Teenagers aren't joining the workforce, and Carson City pool programs are suffering

Summer is a time for ice cream, bike rides, carnivals, and of course, swimming. However, there is a shortage of lifeguards nationwide so extreme that pool programs are in jeopardy of shutting down.

“We are a part of the aquatic community that is suffering right now,” said Mike Freeman, Recreation Program Manager at the Carson City Aquatics Center.

Tibetan monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery will return to Carson City and South Lake Tahoe this month as part of their two-year tour of the United States.

During their Carson City visit, from Jan. 15-20, the monks will construct a Manjushri, also known as Buddha of Wisdom Sand Mandala.
