This time of year, the Nevada state capital is filled with traditions. One that has grown especially endearing to the Carson City community is the annual Pets of the Homeless fundraiser presented by Carpa Nevada, LLC and Downtown Coin.

During October, Michael Hohl Motor Company in Carson City held a pet food drive to fill a pickup truck for the national nonprofit Pets of the Homeless.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to DeBug Computer: Bring your child (or well behaved pet) to DeBug Computer on Saturday, December 15th between 10AM-1PM for our annual Holiday with a Hero fundraiser! A donation of $5 per photo/digital image for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be accepted. 100 percent of donations will go to help provide a Christmas for a local child in need.

Catmandu to waive adoption fees for Maddie's Pet Adoption Days Nov. 16-17. All adotpion fees will be waived with a reimbursement going to Catmandu from Maddie's Pet Project.

Catmandu is a non-profit cat adoption center located at 1829 Brown Street in Carson City, NV. It is a homey, cage-free adoption shelter. The shelter relies entirely on donations and the proceeds from fundraisers. Catmandu provides a comfortable and low-stress environment for cats in transition;the ultimate goal being a cat for every home and a home for every cat.

The nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties is partnering with Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to sponsor a "Prescription Drug Round Up" at Smith’s Grocery in Dayton on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The conveniently located Round Up helps people bring unwanted, unneeded, or expired prescription drugs for safe disposal.

Collecting expired and unused medications can prevent damage to the water supply that would otherwise result from flushing them down toilets and drains.
