On Monday, filing for various Carson City elected offices began, with no surprises and thus far two contested races, Justice of the Peace Dept. 2, which has been known since the filing deadline of Jan. 12 and the Carson City Sheriff seat. Filing dates for all offices other than judicial runs from March 5-16, 2018.

A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for felony suspicion of embezzlement from his employer, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has named Assistant Sheriff Kenny L. Sandage to be appointed to the position of Undersheriff in December.

Mr. Sandage will assume the duties and responsibilities vacated by retiring Undersheriff Steve Albertsen. Ken Sandage, a decorated 26 year veteran with the Sheriff’s Office, has held the executive administrative position of Assistant Sheriff since August 22, 2014.

The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. It might be a blustery Sunday, but the snow isn’t falling yet so enjoy what’s left of our Indian Summer.
