Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting six new cases and two additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,338, with 1,224 recoveries and sixteen deaths, 98 cases remain active.

The Carson City Library will be hosting a new virtual program called "Girls Who Code," on October 10 beginning at 11 a.m.

Stacie Wilke-McCulloch, candidate for Carson City Board of Supervisors, Ward 2, will be the featured speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon. She has served on the Carson City School Board for over 11 years since 1999. She currently serves on the board of Carson City Parks & Recreation and the Governor’s Advisory Council for Family Engagement.

Due to continued public health safety concerns related to COVID-19, trail improvement work, the risk of bear-human encounters and in order to discourage large groups from gathering, the USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has issued a Forest Order that temporarily closes Taylor Creek and the surrounding area from Oct. 3 through Nov. 2, 2020.

This Saturday, Oct. 3, the Carson City Wine Walk will be returning to the capital city for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with new safety rules in place to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Gov. Steve Sisolak has recognized Thursday, Oct. 1 as “Vegas Strong Day in Nevada” and ordered Nevada State flags be flown at half-staff at all State public buildings in tribute to the victims of the October 1, 2017, shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Babysitting classes have often been offered in the Carson City area by a variety of agencies, but none have been offered during a pandemic until now.

The Dayton Library will be hosting their 3rd annual trunk-or-treat on Wednesday October 28th, 2020 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. This year's event will be a contact-less drive-thru. Dayton native and Life Scout Suzanna Stankute is making strides with Boy Scouts of America.

Stankute, 14, is one of the only girls in her council on the verge of earning her Eagle Scout rank. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement attainable in the Scouts BSA program. Members who earn this rank must go through a lengthy review process and complete an Eagle Scout project.

It may be a bit quiet around the high school lately, but this will not stop the CHS Student Council from making their senior year one to remember. Leadership Adviser Ann Britt said, “I am pleased to announce the Corona Virus cannot take the fun out of everything, so we are hosting a Spirit Week, Sept. 25 through Oct. 2, at CHS.”

Hello fellow anglers. Just got back from Oregon a few weeks ago and the world’s getting a little crazy. It's now fall, and it feels like we missed out on most of summer, between COVID-19 and wildfires, we might have to start doing some praying to get back to some sense of normalcy. We encountered 7 wildfires on our journey.
