Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. A Thanksgiving Turkey Drop for families in need will be held Friday at Max Casino. The holiday movie premieres of “Feliz NaviDAD” and “Once Upon A Main Street” on Saturday will feature different venues in Carson City. Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 that there are 42 new cases and 46 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 2,835, with 2,094 recoveries and 27 deaths; 714 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020 that there are 55 new cases and 40 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. Nineteen of these additional 55 new cases are from the Warm Springs Correctional Facility in Carson City. This brings the total number of cases to 2,793, with 2,048 recoveries and 27 deaths; 718 cases remain active.

DETR: Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claims fall after spike in the last two weeks; Regular claims edge down

For the week ending November 7, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,556, down 602 claims, or 7.4 percent, compared to last week’s total of 8,158 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). Through the week ending November 7, there have been 752,795 initial claims filed in 2020, 731,143 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

We are reporting a possible COVID-19 reinfection in the Quad-County Region. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines a reinfection as someone who was infected once, recovered, and then become infected again 90 or more days after the first positive result.
