Movie Review: Aniston and Rudd catch 'Wanderlust'
Submitted by admin on Tue, 02/28/2012 - 1:35amThe romantic comedy "Wanderlust," now playing at the Fandango Galaxy cineplex in Carson City, is an R-rated outing that has plenty of the dirty words, touch of nudity and Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston as a married couple in New York City. He loses his job and her film idea for HBO is rejected.
They have to move out of their 'micro loft" to fall on the hospitality of his brother, a super yuppie in Atlanta with a business of supplying toilets to events.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Thu, 02/09/2012 - 8:40pmAre you a mystery lover? Then you won't be disappointed by Jasmin Palo's new medical thriller “Heart Attack” that takes the reader for a journey through the streets of Reno in a hunt for a killer. This recently released novel engages the reader from the beginning and is already getting praises from its readers - calling it intense, intriguing and full of suspense.
Movie Review: 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' heady, violent, excellent
Submitted by admin on Sat, 12/24/2011 - 11:18pmDirector David Fincher's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," currently showing at the Fandango Galaxy multiplex in Carson City, is an exciting thriller with dramatic overtones. It's based on the novel by Stieg Larsson which was a big best seller.
Daniel Craig stars as a Swedish journalist facing a big fine over slander in an article he wrote about a Swedish industrialist. Rooney Mara plays Lisbeth Salander, computer wizard and extreme individualist tendencies.
Movie Review: 'The Three Musketeers' is swashbuckling and stars the bright Jovovich
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 10/23/2011 - 9:17am"The Three Musketeers," currently playing at the Fandango Galaxy cineplex in Carson City, is the umpteenth version of the Alexander Dumas Pere's novel. Like most of its predecessors, the best parts don't really fit together. Things are sort of pasted into a film with its bright spots and plodding moments.
D'Artagnan is a country youth out to join the famed three musketeers in the France of Louis XIII. He finds them by accidentally challenging them to duels on the same day. Somehow he works it out.

Movie Review: 'Dream House' more of a nightmare in snow
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 10/02/2011 - 8:27pm"Dream House," currently showing at the Fandango Galaxy multiplex in Carson City, is a suspense film staring Daniel Craig as editor/writer Will Atenton, Rachel Weisz as his wife Libby, and Naomi Watts as Ann Paterson, a neighbor of the Atentons in their new suburban home.
Movie Review: 'The Help' a fine and striking summer movie
Submitted by admin on Sun, 08/14/2011 - 6:11pm"The Help," currently playing at the Fandango Galaxy cineplex in Carson City, is a welcome relief from such summer films as the ugly "Change-Up." No explosions, no car chases, no exploitive scenes for the teens among us. Instead it's a portrait of life in Mississippi in the 1960s and the near-infinite gap between the whites and their black maids and cooks.
Movie Review: 'The Change-Up' full of nudity, foul language, few redeeming moments
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 08/10/2011 - 5:14pm"The Change-Up," an R-rated film now playing at the Fandango Galaxy cineplex in Carson City and elsewhere, plays concurrently with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" at the Galaxy.
"Apes" is probably the best summer fare this year. No way "Change-Up" is going to be on anyone's "best" list, unless it's that of the sophomore class at Carson High. But even young teens, at whom this movie is aimed, surely will know better. It's a lousy take on contemporary American men and society. Director Dave Dobkin makes the trains run on time but with such a lousy load of freight.

'Water for Elephants' not a three-ring circus
