Health Care: What does it mean to you?

The Northern Nevada Development Authority is hosting a breakfast meeting on Wednesday, June 29 from 7:00 am – 9:00 am at the Carson Nugget on the topic of health care.

“Creating an Accountable and Affordable Healthcare Delivery System” – Ed Epperson, CEO at Carson-Tahoe Regional Health Care Center will review the Affordable Care Act of 2010 and what it did – and didn’t do – to ensure development of affordable and accountable health care throughout the nation. Epperson will also address trends and challenges that are developing in the health care industry.

Update: NNDA Luncheon Program Canceled

Norther Nevada Development Authority is very sorry to announce that the May 25 luncheon has been CANCELED. Due to the critical demands of the legislative session and the fact it is drawing to a close the first part of June, the timing is just too tight right now.

If you are a prepaid registered guest, NNDA will be happy to provide a refund or carry over a credit balance towards the next event on June 29.

If you were registered but not paid, you need not do anything.

Gov. Sandoval featured at joint Carson City Chamber, NNDA breakfast

The Northern Nevada Development Authority and the Carson City Chamber Commerce will host a joint breakfast with Gov. Brian Sandoval at the Carson Nugget on April 27 from 7 to 9 a.m.
Join NNDA, the Chamber and Gov. Sandoval for breakfast where he will address economic challenges as well as legislative issues facing the state.

NNDA breakfast to recognize Aervoe Industries

A breakfast meeting and export achievement certificate presentation is part of the March 30 gathering of the Northern Nevada Development Authority.
The meeting will be at the Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Highway 395, Minden.

NNDA Hosts Nevada Mining Association President

The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host Tim Crowley, Nevada Mining Association president at its Jan. 26 Breakfast Meeting.
Crowley will share insights on mining contributions to the state's gross domestic product - at around three percent - and explain how critically important the industry is to Nevada's economy.

Nugget Project: Business incubator losing steam?

One of the things that came out at Monday night's Nugget Project advisory was a setback for the business incubator part of the project.

It was announced by project consultant Mark Lewis that C4Cube, the business incubator in Reno that was considering operating the planned Carson City incubator, was no longer a part of their discussions. We don't know exactly what happened, but not having an experienced operator could threaten this part of the project.

Energy and industry topics at NNDA breakfast

A breakfast Thursday morning hosted by the Northern Nevada Development Authority will feature a panel of experts who will discuss the business of energy, industry and innovation.
The meeting will be held at the Carson Nugget. Doors open at 7 a.m. with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $20 for NNDA investors with reservations and $35 for guests or at the door. Questions, contact NNDA at (775) 883-4413.

With the focus on business development, the discussion will focus on ways to make the region innovative and profitable.

Dean Heller spins some tall tales for his hometown friends

I've always liked Dean Heller. We might disagree politically, but my interactions with him have always been friendly. He seems like a truly nice person, the opposite of the what we see in some other Nevada politicians.

But watching him this week at the NNDA breakfast reminded me that Dean's ambition is clearly more important than adherence to truth.

You see, Dean used to come off as a lot more moderate than he does today. As assemblyman and Secretary of State, he championed causes that don't exactly line up with the national GOP's ideology.
