Robert Mergell picked as administrator to lead Nevada Division of State Parks

CARSON CITY — Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources director Bradley Crowell announced Wednesday the appointment of Robert “Bob” Mergell to serve as the new Administrator for the Nevada Division of State Parks.

State park fees waived Saturday as part of Nevada Public Lands Day celebration

CARSON CITY — Nevada residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Nevada Public Lands Day this Saturday, Sept. 29 with a “fee-free” day at Nevada’s State Parks. Park fees, including entrance, camping, Saturday night, and boating, where applicable, will be waived at state parks throughout Nevada.

This week's hike has CHANGED to the new Clear Creek Trail. Since Nevada State Parks is closing some of the trails for forest management, the original trail advertised, Tahoe Rim Trail Spooner Summit-North will closed.

The meeting place has not changed. We will still meet at Highway 50 Park and Ride where we will carpool up to Spooner Summit to park in the south parking lot for the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The Clear Creek Trail begins just east of the bathroom and is accessed via the Forest Service Road just east of the bathroom.
