Affordable housing the topic at Democratic luncheon

February 20, 2023 - 1:00pm Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Sarah Adler, Principal at Silver State Government Relations. She will speak on behalf of the Nevada Housing Coalition, a group that works with legislators on policy solutions that address both the shortage of affordable and supportive housing and access to existing housing.
Affordable housing is defined by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development as “Housing for which the occupants are paying no more than 30% of his or her income for gross housing costs.”

June 20, 2022 - 1:00pm Monday, June 20th marks the second annual celebration of Juneteenth National Independence Day, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden on June 17, 2021. It commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement by Union Army General Gordon Granger of General Order No. 3, which proclaimed freedom for all the enslaved people of Texas, the last Confederate state to have institutional slavery.
