Carson High School Theatre Arts will host its upcoming production of "Eurydice," a modern adaptation of the classic Orpheus in the Underworld myth, with performances Friday through Sunday at the Carson City Community Center.

The moon has looked incredible these last few nights, and a view from Washoe Lake State Park is sure to inspire. Just make sure to call for reservations if you’d like to join the guided hike along the sand dunes. For some daytime scenery, join Parks and Rec. for their easy walk at Fuji Park. Start the day making something beautiful. The Muscle Powered Trash Mob descends upon our new downtown for some clean-up and coffee. Kids will enjoy the Tales and Wags program at the Library where they get to read to therapy dogs and acquire a new book in the process. It’s a Carson/Douglas Army/Navy rivalry as the JROTC programs hit the field at Carson High for a game of flag football. Keep reading and you’re sure to find something that sounds fun.

It’s finally Friday. The annual Salvation Army Turkey Drive runs 6 a.m. until six this evening: drop off your donation at the Max Casino in Carson or at the C.O.D. Casino in Minden. Get to know Supervisor Karen Abowd during her monthly walkabout at the Community Center; head inside to get a peek at the new art exhibit in the Sierra Room while you’re there. The Craft Fair at Carson High School is a local favorite: over 125 vendors, music, and pictures with Santa. It starts tonight and continues tomorrow.

I’m not trying to rush you, but the holidays season approaches. As such, the holiday craft fairs, bazaars, and bake sales have arrived. You may as well start looking at that gift list to see who would enjoy something one-of-a-kind and locally crafted. If not for gift giving, these fairs are an excellent way to find fun ways to decorate your home. Other than that, the weekend is kind of quiet, but you'll want take a look at the list and see what catches your fancy.

A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to everyone who has served or is serving in our Armed Forces. Further thank yous go to their loved ones for the sacrifices they make. This Veterans’ Day several local and national businesses have some special offers for you: free food, drinks, and even pet adoptions. You’ll find them all listed here. It’s also a Friday, so Carson City has some fun packed into our little valley. Enjoy live music at Westside Pour House or Living the Good Life. It’s a DJ Dance Party at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar.

There is an excellent chance that your devices have already fallen back one hour, but not everything is digitally connected. Magic is bursting from Under the Sea as the acclaimed Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company (WNMTC) puts the final glittering touches on Disney’s Academy Award-winning “The Little Mermaid.” This Broadway blockbuster will play at the Carson City Community Center weekends, Nov. 4 through 20.

In the world premiere of Constant Coogan's "Bury Me Alive" music video, fans are immediately met with the soaring melodies and stunning vocals that Constant Coogan has become so well known for since the release of their July 1st album of the same name. The video is a true work of art, featuring talent from the dance students at Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company.

It’s a big day for the stage in Carson City. Under the lights of the Performance Hall at the Brewery Art Center, the four primary candidates for Carson City Mayor and for State Assembly District 40 will participate in a forum hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Get to know the people you will see on the June Ballot. At the Bob Boldrick Theater, the Carson High Musical Theater Ensemble will perform for their last time this school year.
