Salvation Army Fundraiser Car Show Sept. 14

Thursday Night Cruise Car Show, benefiting the Salvation Army, will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at the Salvation Army offices, 911 E. Second Street between Harbin and Pratt avenues, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $20 a day of registration costs $25.

Awards for first, second, third place and Best of Show will be presented at 2 p.m.

The event will feature food, music, a 50/50 raffle and Chinese raffle with door prizes.

The car show will help with the Salvation Army's building fund. All vehicles are welcomed and motorcycles, too.

Carson City emergency crews called to crash involving 2 motorcycles on Highway 50 East

UPDATE 2:08PM: Eastbound travel lanes on US-50 at Arrowhead near Deer Run are now open. The westbound traffic is being diverted onto Arrowhead, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. One person was transported by Care Flight and the other rider was taken by ground ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time. NHP is investigating the crash.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Friday afternoon to a crash involving two motorcycles and a truck in the area of Highway 50 East near Arrowhead and Deer Run Road.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Nicholas, and about a million friends, and colleagues, including the many people she helped on their journeys in her various roles in the community. She died of issues related to metastatic breast cancer on June 21, at 3:07 a.m. the exact minute the Summer Solstice began.

U.S. Highway 50 near Spooner Summit reopened after fatal motorcycle accident

There was a fatal motorcycle crash on U.S. 50 about a mile east of Spooner Summit just before noon Saturday, The east bound lane was closed for about three hours as emergency personnel responded to the scene and conducted an investigation.

WNC offers driver education classes in Carson City

Driver Education courses are available in three separate sessions at Western Nevada College in Carson City before the end of the year.

Teens age 15 and older can choose between Saturday sessions that begin on Sept. 10 and Oct. 15, or a daily session starting on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Each session includes four days of instruction, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $100.

In addition to Nevada driving regulations, the course covers how to handle distractions and peer pressure, and how to prevent falling asleep at the wheel or driving under the influence.
