Judge rules for Brewery Arts Center in lease dispute against Foodies Bystro
Submitted by admin on Thu, 09/24/2015 - 10:57amThe Brewery Arts Center prevailed in Carson Justice Court Tuesday morning in the nonprofit’s quest to evict Foodies Bystro from its spot in the center’s facility at the corner of King and Division streets.
Judge Steven McMorris agreed with the BAC’s request to invalidate a portion of the lease that would have allowed Foodies to renew the lease for another three years. The judge found that the wording of the section was vague because it allowed for the lease to be renewed, but didn’t specify that the renewal would be under the same terms and conditions.

This American funk and rock, Caribbean calypso and reggae, and Brazilian samba drumming band mixes music from cultures around the world to come up with a unique sounds all its own. This blend of drums, guitars, horns, and electronic colors calls to mind the grooves of Parliament Funkadelic, the horns of Earth Wind and Fire, the diversity of Manu Chao, and the psychedelic improvisation of the Grateful Dead.

Any guest who attends the club meeting (Tuesdays, 12:05 -1:00 p.m. backroom at Grandma Hattie’s Restaurant) will receive a raffle ticket to receive a $30 gift certificate from Raleys. The raffle drawing will be held during the Toastmaster’s meeting on Nov. 19. Need not be present to win. Learn to communicate well and earn a turkey at the same time!
WNC Student Vets offer free barbecue today for those who have served

The free event, which features traditional barbecue fare, takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the lawn and plaza area outside the Dini Library and Student Center.

New Gun Rights Group Intends to Actively Lobby Legislature
Submitted by Nevada News Bureau on Fri, 09/30/2011 - 12:40pmThe National Rifle Association (NRA) this month formally approved the Nevada Firearms Coalition (NFC) as its new, officially sanctioned state association in Nevada.
The group is a registered nonprofit Nevada corporation and according to its website is dedicated “to the ownership and safe use of firearms for self-defense, competition, recreation and hunting.”
