CARSON CITY – The Nevada Supreme Court on Wednesday amended the state rules of professional conduct for lawyers to allow them to counsel clients on the state’s medical marijuana laws.

Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., last week co-sponsored a package of bills that would protect Nevadans who legally sell or use medical marijuana under state law from being targeted by federal prosecutors.

Nevada isn’t setting a limit for now on the number of people who can be licensed to grow medical marijuana for sale at dispensaries authorized last year under state law.

Medical marijuana dispensaries will not be allowed in unincorporated areas of Lyon County, commissioners decided Thursday.

In a 4 to 1 vote, the board approved the ordinance that outlaws dispensaries, laboratories and grow operations in the mostly rural county. The ordinance was proposed by Sheriff Allen Veil and brought forward by Commissioner Virgil Arellano.

As the last day of the 77th session of the Nevada Legislature was coming to an end Monday and the clock ticked closer to deadline, legislators were becoming more and more burned out, as well as the technology they rely on.

The Assembly floor session became a perfect example of this.

CARSON CITY — The Assembly passed a bill Monday that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries in Nevada.

SB374 initially appeared to fail the required two-thirds majority vote on the final day of the legislative session to the extent that Democratic lawmakers cast no votes so the measure would be reconsidered later on. However, that was not the case; the confusion was caused by a glitch on the board that shows the Assembly’s ‘yea’ and ‘nay’ tally.

After a malfunctioning reader board threw its future into question, a bill that would create a legal medical marijuana dispensary system in Nevada passed the Assembly Monday in a nearly party-line vote.

The push to get medical marijuana card holders in Nevada a way to access the drug is nearing a pivotal juncture.

A bill that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries in Nevada passed the State Senate 17-4 on Wednesday. SB374, introduced in March by Sen. Tick Segerblom, would authorize and regulate medical marijuana dispensaries to serve Nevadans with medical marijuana cards.
