Court: Nevada Lawyers Can Give Advice on Medical Marijuana

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Supreme Court on Wednesday amended the state rules of professional conduct for lawyers to allow them to counsel clients on the state’s medical marijuana laws.

Lyon commissioners ban marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated areas of county

Medical marijuana dispensaries will not be allowed in unincorporated areas of Lyon County, commissioners decided Thursday.

In a 4 to 1 vote, the board approved the ordinance that outlaws dispensaries, laboratories and grow operations in the mostly rural county. The ordinance was proposed by Sheriff Allen Veil and brought forward by Commissioner Virgil Arellano.

SB374 initially appeared to fail the required two-thirds majority vote on the final day of the legislative session to the extent that Democratic lawmakers cast no votes so the measure would be reconsidered later on. However, that was not the case; the confusion was caused by a glitch on the board that shows the Assembly’s ‘yea’ and ‘nay’ tally.
