What I know about gorls you could put in a gnat's ear. It's not because I haven't tried to understand gorls, I have tried to understand gorls. They make great mothers and grandmothers, I know that. Feeding Pets of the Homeless welcomes DeBug Computer into its Donation Site community for pet food and supplies that will be delivered to local food banks, homeless shelters or homeless encampments. Donations may be taken to DeBug’s Carson City location at 1817 N. CARSON CITY — Comedy thru the Ages, the 2020 production of the Carson Follies, is seeking actors, dancers, singers and stage personnel for its upcoming show July 10-12. Auditions will be held Thursday, March 5, and Tuesday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive in Carson City.

This Friday night at the Carson Comedy Club inside the Carson Nugget the headliner will be the star of the "Casino Boss" sitcom series comedian Joby Saad.

Each year, National Read Across America Day is observed on March 2, the birthday of children’s book author Ted Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss. In celebration, many schools often dedicate an entire week as “Reading Week.” In Carson City, grade-schoolers at Fremont Elementary School got to celebrate a week prior to the observance with several community partners and local dignitaries, who visited classrooms to read to students.

On a recent holiday weekend, hundreds of visitors snapped selfies with a two-legged bear while sledding at Lake Tahoe. The “Take Care” bear mingled with families reminding them to throw away their broken sleds, rather than leaving them littered on the snow.

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. CARSON CITY — On the heels of an incredibly successful 2019 season and due to popular demand, V&T Railway has begun early ticket sale booking for the 2020 season. As with prior seasons, the 2020 season will include vintage steam train rides from Carson City to Virginia City, Toast of the Canyon wine and beer trains and the popular Polar Express in addition to other themed and special event trains.

The Carson City School District will host two showings of a 60-minute documentary titled "Screenagers Next Chapter — Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience" Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Bob Boldrick Theatre in the Carson City Community Center. The two showings, beginning at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m., will be free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.

The Carson High School Annual Talent Show was hosted earlier this week by Carson High School's Future Business Leaders of America students, with cash prizes sponsored by Adam's Hub. Funds raised by the talent show go toward state and national competitions.

This past weekend, Youth Theatre Carson City’s Showstoppers show choir traveled to Southern California to compete in the Musical Theatre Competitions of America 2020, a national competition with 35 teams representing 19 states and 3 countries, and brought home two major awards: 2nd place Advanced/Open Musical Revue and 3rd place Advanced/Open Ensemble Performance.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities over the next three days. Restaurants in Carson City will host Valentine’s Day specials on Friday. The Carson City Celtic Music series will be at the Brewery Arts Center on Saturday featuring Fortunate Strangers. Valentines is the day to show love to not only significant others, but to everyone in our lives that we love and cherish. In classic mythology, the god of love and desire known as Cupid, shoots people with his golden arrows and with this very action the person that was shot has now became filled with uncontrollable desire for someone. The moment I laid my eyes on my gorgeous girlfriend, Edith, I knew that I was shot by cupid, and as our relationship grew my love for her grew as well.

My special valentine for the past twelve years is my husband Xavier. We met when we were really young he was fifteen and I was fourteen but that did not matter because we have been together ever since. His brought laughter and joy into my life. I could not imagine life without him. Like all couples we have our highs and lows, even though at times we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel we mange to meet in the middle and guide one another. We have build a beautiful life together and I can not wait to see what the future will hold for us! Maybe more babies? Or maybe more puppies?

Simple pleasures, like nibbling on homemade French fries dipped in killer ranch dressing, are what social workers at the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services Carson City District Office look forward to most in the thick of daily stressors.

I don’t have a valentine but I have a BF who I affectionately call Izzy. Two weeks ago she was in a very serious head on collision on Highway 50. A woman was going the wrong direction on the highway. She was airlifted to Renown, is finally home and has a long recovery ahead of her. I would love to do something special for her in her time of healing, and quite frankly anytime! She is caring, loving, compassionate, giving, honest and so much more! She never asks for anything so I hope you’ll consider my story so I could surprise her with an evening out! She deserves it! Thank you!
