The Brother Dan Show to feature Mike Epps, June 27

Local business owner/guitarist Mike Epps of A to Zen will be featured on this week’s edition of The Brother Dan Show.

Local musician Craig Fletcher marks his return from Mexico as he returns to The Brother Dan Show on May 2. Well-known to local audiences due to his near-two-decade run performing at Glen Eagles, Fletcher is a very accomplished multi-instrumentalist (mainly guitar), singer, and recording engineer.

This week, The Brother Dan Show invites local audiences to The Bank Saloon in Carson City this Monday for an afternoon of music and interview with Joel Edwards.

Guitar virtuoso Mick Valentino will be featured on the April 4 episode of The Brother Dan Show, live from the Bank Saloon in Carson City.

This week, Valentine Francisco aka The Boogie Man, joins host Brother Dan Palmer for an interview and casual musical jam session, when The Brother Dan Show streams live from the Bank Saloon in Carson City on Monday, March 28.

Local singer/songwriter Canyon White will be the featured guest on The Brother Dan Show on March 21. The show streams every week, LIVE from the Bank Saloon in Carson City, and features music and interviews with a variety of local and regional musicians.

This week, The Brother Dan Show will feature the host, as he performs an all-request show, streaming LIVE from the Bank Saloon in Carson City on Monday, March 7.

Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

CARSON CITY — A new year signals new adventures, and travelers can plan a one-of-a-kind experience with the 2020 Nevada Visitor’s Guide. The guide’s new Quick Fix section answers the need for insider info on quirky roadside stops, local music venues, only-in-Nevada products and more.

Heavenly Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe welcomed skiers and boarders to the slopes Wednesday morning with 11 inches of new snow on the ground, launching the 2019-20 winter season.

The month of August begins with a presentation on “The Great State Embezzlement,” Mo’z Motley Blues in concert and a presentation on “The History of Baseball in Nevada” at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park.

On Sunday, August 4, at 10 a.m., Glen Whorton, President of the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society, returns to the park to speak on this year’s topic “The Great State Embezzlement.” This is a free event for all to attend.

A musical treat arrives at A To Zen in Carson City on Monday, June 10 with two solo sets of exceptional musicians: Brother Dan Palmer of Carson City and Kazoo Studios of Oakland, Calif.

Dan Palmer is best classified as an upbeat, observant singing songwriter specializing in Modern Americana music. Often compared to artists as diverse as John Mayer, Maroon 5, James Taylor, David Wilcox, Dan Fogelberg, Todd Snider, Dave Mason, and Harry Chapin.

The Brewery Arts Center will present the return of the Southern Drawl Band on Saturday, Oct. 13 in the BAC Performance Hall in Carson City.

Next year, Vincent Gates, the owner of Carson City’s local music shop, Play Your Own Music, is celebrating his 30th year in the music business.

Friday opens the 15th annual Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival in Carson City that features 17 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in Carson City, August 3-19.

Even Santa Claus enjoys his time aboard Carson City's famed trains. With appearances at the Brewery Arts Center, Santa can be found throughout the area, including the Nevada Railroad Museum. Elsewhere, let the arrows fly during the Clearcreek Bowmen’s Holiday with a Hero fundraising 3-D shoot. Enjoy a Small Town Christmas in Dayton this evening. The festivities take place in ‘Our Park,’ at the western edge of town. An ugly sweater contest, hot chocolate, caroling, tree lighting and home-town fun are on the menu. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

Tis the season for visits with Santa, holiday twinkle lights, and craft fairs and festivals. In order to make your December planning a little easier, take a look at what is coming up in the Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton, and Virginia City area. Go deck the halls, get some jingle bells, and wassail away.

An electric month of local vibes and community events arrives Friday as the 14th annual Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival begins at the historic Bliss Mansion, launching an 18-day, jam-packed schedule featuring original jazz music and various art and film gatherings at multiple venues around the capital city.

Join us Saturday night for a triple bill of fantastic music and entertainment as we bring you some of Carson's best local talent. Headlining will be Wildhorse Epidemic, playing new, old and original rock and roll.

These guys have been rocking the scene for the last couple of years and are gaining a huge following. Opening the night will be Wendy Revers, just up from southern California.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA., the second eldest child of Joseph Patrick McGuire Jr. and Sylvia Francis May, Joe spent his early childhood in and around that area, moving often due to his Father’s work.

In 1964, at the age of 13, he and his family moved to Carson City, the Capital of Nevada. It was there, playing in the school band, that Joe had discovered a love of music that would become the muse that he would follow the rest of his life.
