To meet the rising employment demand for nurses, Western Nevada College now offers a plan to expedite students’ entry into the college’s Nursing program. Through an accelerated model, students can complete nursing prerequisites in just two semesters, in preparation for acceptance into the program.

When Robin McGregor attended her first Entrepreneurs Assembly meeting at Adams Hub for innovation in February of this year, she had no idea what to expect. Robin’s goal was to drive more people into Carson City Art Gallery, which she opened with her husband Rich, in September 2016. The gallery is located in a historic former stagecoach stop at 110 Curry Street in downtown Carson City.

On Monday, April 24, author and meditation instructor Molly Dahl is bringing a new workshop to The Studio at Adams Hub, designed to help participants create healthier, more balanced lives. Dahl, whose 2015 book Youth Positive, Exploring the Unique Genius of Every 21st Century Adolescent shared emotional-balance tactics for teens, is now setting her sights on the area’s stressed-out adults.

More than 80 Carson High School Career and Technical Education health science students and members of CHS HOSA Future Health Professionals swept the Nevada HOSA State Leadership Conference held at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, competing in more than 30 events in March.

The 2017 Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference results are in, and CHS students and staff were on fire, proving all their hard work paid off because both students and staff took many of the major award.

One night each year, John Street, adjacent to Cafe at Adele’s in Carson City is transformed into an intimate music venue for Concert Under the Stars, and for a few precious moments the air is filled with great music, a lot of love and laughter in order to raise money that continues the The Greenhouse Project’s mission of educating the next generation of farmers and feeding the under served in the community.

Carson High School’s HOSA — Future Health Professionals, one of four Career Technical Student Organizations that are part of the CHS Career and Technical Education program, sent more than 100 students to compete in the state HOSA Future Health Professionals Leadership Conference in Las Vegas this month thanks to a $4,400 grant from Partnership Carson City and fundraising efforts by students.

While many pets only stay at Nevada Humane Society for a short time, some are overlooked and will reside here longer than others. They may be shy or overly energetic, older, a bit sassy, or have a special need, such as a diet restriction or perhaps missing an eye. A 39-year-old food and nutrition manager at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of embezzlement after allegedly creating a fake account for a bakery where he would funnel invoices that were approved for payment by the hospital’s accounting department, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
