Homeland Security Commissioners, Sheriffs Frustrated With Lack of Progress

CARSON CITY – Members of Nevada’s Homeland Security Commission expressed frustration today that more than eight years after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, local law enforcement and other emergency responders still can’t communicate with each other when responding to an emergency.

Domestic abuse calls keep Carson City officers busy over weekend

Carson City law officers were busy over the weekend dealing with a spat of domestic violence cases. Most involved drinking, with at least one of the cases resulting in a woman being taken to the hospital after she was punched and kicked in the head and face.

A 21-year-old unemployed Carson City man was arrested on domestic battery charges after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend from behind and held a tight hold on her until she collapsed. The incident happened at North Roop and Northridge streets at about 3 p.m. on Sunday.
