Two men from Carson City believed to be connected to a homicide in Oregon are being sought by Washoe Tribal Police and Oregon authorities, with Carson City Sheriff's Office SWAT team providing backup.

Fire reported behind Centennial Park

Update 7:40 p.m.: Sheriff Kenny Furlong reports that the fire has been extinguished, and was contained to the vehicle. About 20 gallons of fuel was spilled on the ground as a result, and that environmental officials have been contacted. No one was injured.

UPDATE 1:05PM: A 22-year-old Carson City man faces felony charges after he allegedly beat a pregnant woman with a rock, released a pit bull on responding officers and then stabbed himself in the neck. The victim in the battery was being treated for non life-threatening injuries, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The suspect, Jordan Webber, was flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno. He was to appear in Carson City court today on domestic battery charges, said Furlong. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday morning, 11:25 a.m. to a report of a violent domestic battery actively taking place at the 2300 block of Dori Way in northeast Carson City.

The hysterical reporting female informed dispatchers that a man was attacking a pregnant female with a knife. She believed the victim was being stabbed repeatedly and her throat had been “slit” in the back yard of the residence.

UDPATE: 7:45PM: Two suspects are in custody following a law enforcement operation that began with a burglary Thursday in Washoe City. Update 6:45 p.m.: Suspect wasn't found in the residence, and the scene is secure.

Update 6:21 p.m: SWAT is inside the residence, checking in the crawl space for the suspect.

Update 6:02 p.m.: SWAT team just used flash bang devices and tear gas in the residence of the suspect. Deputies on the scene have reason to believe suspect may have a cache of stolen weapons.

Traffic on Corbett Street between Roop and Stewart has been blocked by Carson City Sheriff's deputies who are trying to apprehend a crime suspect.

Deputies are currently trying to evacuate two apartment complexes that are near where they think the suspect is holed up.

Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong emailed the following statement:

Major activity in Carson City a result of a reported burglary. Agencies involved include Washoe, Carson, and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office’s.

Over 30 officers dispersed over numerous locations in Washoe City and at least 4 locations in Carson City.

This is on-going with few details immediately releasable.

Carson City GATE students get schooled in sheriff's office K9 patrol

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit hosted a group of students from the Gifted and Academically Talented Education program from the Carson City School District Wednesday at the Fuji Park Pavilion.

Twenty-seven 6th and 7th grade students from Eagle Valley and Carson Middle Schools spent the day with the K9 Unit learning how the dogs work in drug detection, patrol work, and tracking. Demonstrations were done with the dogs and their handlers giving the students first hand experience at just what the teams are capable of.

Sheriff Furlong files for re-election: Community engagement cornerstone of continuous progress

On Monday morning, Sheriff Kenny Furlong walked across the court house parking lot and filed for re-election of the position he’s held for the last 11 years. Update: Search for Carson City murder suspect

Carson City Sheriff deputies are searching for a suspect wanted in connection to a shooting in the 2800 block of Carmine Street that left one person dead and another injured.

Deputies are looking for Michael Dylan Brentlinger, 22. The suspect is thought to be driving a white 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier NV/948XAT, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office. The RAVEN helicopter from Washoe County has been called in to help with the search.

Update: The search for the suspect has moved back to Carson City. Earlier reports of the suspect being at large in Douglas County were due to a mistaken phone number that deputies were tracking. If you see the suspect or the vehicle call 911.

According to Sheriff Kenny Furlong, Brentlinger allegedly shot his girlfriend in the face, and killed the girl's father during a "massive fight" at the residence on Carmine between Nichols and Bunch Way early this morning. Brentlinger was recently in custody at the Carson City Jail on charges of assaulting the female victim in this case.
