Nevada Shakespeare Comes To Dayton Intermediate School
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 02/08/2011 - 12:43pmShakespeare Company and Gold Hill Theater brought their fast-paced, interactive program, Shakespeare In School, to Donna Anderson's 6th grade English class at Dayton Intermediate School recently.
Teaching Artists Michele Crain and Chris Willson involved the students in skits that brought Shakespeare's Kate and Petruchio from Taming of the Shrew to life. They also explained the historical setting of the play, and involved the entire class in a series of theatre games. Crain, a certified Nevada teacher with 10 years experience teaching in Nevada, designed the lessons.
Nevada's nuclear legacy featured in book; lectures today and Thursday in Minden and Carson City

Nevada State Museum in Carson City hosts Powwow traditions exhibit
Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/19/2010 - 2:36pmCelebrating Nevada's rich American Indian culture is a new exhibit at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City called "What Continues the Dream: Contemporary Arts and Crafts from the Powwow Tradition."
This colorful exhibit, featured now through Aug. 7, was developed by the Folklife Program of the Nevada Arts Council and presents art and crafts that capture the vibrant spirit of the contemporary powwow, Nevada-style.
