Happy Saturday, Carson City! We have a beautiful, hot labor day weekend ahead of us with highs of 93 and lows in the mid 50s through Monday. There are tons of great summer-time events this weekend, and enjoy them while you can because Fall is just around the corner!

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

CARSON CITY — Gabe Crossman, a 17-year-old senior at Carson High School and member of Troop 45, will be refreshing the “C" on C-Hill for his Eagle Scout and senior class projects Saturday, September 7, at 7 a.m. Seniors from the Class of 2019 moved the rocks to form “TJ3" in memory of their classmate Timmy Jones.

On August 12, 2019, Nevada native, Daniel S. Judd joined Allison MacKenzie Law Firm as a new associate attorney. Daniel will focus his practice on the areas of Family Law, Divorce, Guardianships and Estate Planning. He is a former law clerk for both Allison MacKenzie and the Honorable James T. Russell, District Court Judge of the First Judicial District Court in Carson City. Additionally, he served the community as a Deputy Sheriff in Carson City.

Heading into Tuesday, August 27, 2019 we're looking at continued hot weather around the capital city, with daytime highs in the mid to upper 90s. Ahead is a job fair at the Carson Nugget, a Fat Tuesday business networking gathering, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, free skin cancer testing offered by Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness Institute, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs and more.

Join Muscle Powered on the last Saturday in August for a beautiful hike to Marlette Lake. The hike begins from the Spooner Lake parking lot, travels north on North Canyon Road, and continues onto the single-track trail north to Marlette Lake.

NEW WASHOE CITY — September events at Washoe Lake State Park include an evening hike through the sand dunes, a birdwatching program, a morning walk through the Day Use Area, and a night hike.

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. There's also a discussion about aviation history and trends at the Nevada State Museum, a Carson City GOP information meeting on Block Chain technology, Jazz and Beyond music festival events and more. Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. SPOONER LAKE, Nev. — Join a Park Ranger for a guided hike to the famous Sand Harbor Overlook on the Tahoe Rim Trail. The hike is a four-mile loop and offers breathtaking views of Sand Harbor. The hike is moderately difficult, and you’ll need to bring water, lunch, sunscreen and sturdy hiking boots.

Hello fellow anglers, Just returned from a couple weeks of fishing from our local area to the Rogue River Valley in Oregon. The day we arrived, they had a wild fire that started at 200 acres and by the next day it was over 10,000. Grants pass was smokey and hard to breath, so Renee, my cousin Steve and I ventured to Brookings OR to do some salmon fishing.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.
