Senator Square: First week of school a blast at Carson High School

In fact, counselors, teachers, and other administrators stood at each of the school entrances welcoming students to the best high school in the state, hyperbole aside.

If you missed them, there will be a viewing party hosted by Carson City Parks and Rec at the Jack C. Davis Observatory at WNC beginning at midnight Tuesday morning, August 13. Otherwise, it's onward and upward into the day with a Cooperative Extension presentation, Shred Kids mountain bike camp, Red Cross sitter certification class, West Coast swing dancing and more.

For the third annual AARP Community Challenge, AARP received more than 1,660 applications from nonprofits and government entities, resulting in a highly competitive selection process.

"Top Gun: Maverick" is the sequel to 1986's blockbuster "Top Gun." In true dramatic fashion, the trailer builds up the story of the Tom Cruise character Maverick as the new flight instructor of the Top Gun school.

Memorial Day is the day we celebrate those men and women who passed while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Karalyn Mumm, owner and commercial pilot of the balloon “Citrus in the Sky,” will provide tethered hot air balloon rides on the front lawn at the high school.

Ladies Fly Fishing Clinic at Fuji Park April 27

This one-day event is open to the public, but advance registration is necessary.
