Comments for Board of Supervisors
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 10/13/2017 - 1:44pmFollowing are comments I wrote 01/04/2017 but was unable to give at the BOS Meeting as I was home sick with a cold. Given the article in the Nevada Appeal today, I believe they are still timely:
So, my brother, Rex, and I were talking the other day about whether or not I was going to be attending the next Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting. I told him that after the Vintage at Kings Canyon development was shoved down our throats, I didn’t have anything new to make public comment on, but was sure that something would come along.

Help Wanted: Correspondents to cover high school sports and entertainment
Submitted by admin on Wed, 04/02/2014 - 11:31amCarson Now is looking for a couple of people who can cover high school sports and entertainment events in Carson City.
For high school sports, ideally we would like to find someone who is involved at Carson High School (like a student or parent) who can take photos, report game scores and write up a few brief news items each week. We also want to expand to other sporting events outside of the high school, as well as any non-sports news coming out of our local schools.

Submitted by Nevada Media Alliance on Sat, 10/19/2013 - 11:28amGraham Blog: The NIAA Has It Wrong
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 11/14/2012 - 6:02pmThe NIAA has a problem. They forget that they are running high school sports and not professional organizations. This is to tell them that giving exclusive broadcasting rights of all mediums to Gustin Sports Productions is beyond absurd. This is Nevada, where high school sports are not overwhelmingly huge. This is all about fun here not about money like some seem to think.
Graham Blog: Some High Schools Get A Failing Grade with Student-Athletes
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 10/26/2012 - 2:08pmWhat are some high schools thinking? Some high schools around the nation are lowering or have already lowered the Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements for their student-athletes, and some go as low as 1.6 (a “D” average). This is absolutely absurd to me. I watched a show on ESPN about this and it left me fuming. I cannot believe that schools are so lazy to teach their pupils. They are indirectly saying: “Students struggle so we are not going to work to get them better.”
