Carson City hospital first in Northern Nevada to offer naturally dissolving heart stent

Coronary artery disease patients in Northern Nevada now have a new treatment option that literally disappears over time, only at Carson City-based Carson Tahoe Health.

Michelle Joy, Chief Operating Officer, recently announced the hospital is among the first in the country – and the only provider in the region – to offer the latest generation of state-of-the-art cardiology technology, Absorb.

Nevada Health Centers is excited to welcome Amani Altamimi, M.D. to our team in Carson City. She will be an asset to the Sierra Nevada Health Center team and its patients. Dr. Altamimi received her Medical Degree from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

She completed Residency programs at East Orange General Hospital in East Orange, New Jersey and Central Michigan University in Saginaw, Michigan. She is active in several professional organizations including the American College of Physicians and American Geriatric Society.

Free training program for care givers of elderly veterans and others

Carson City unemployment edges down in July to 6.5 percent

Unemployment in Carson City fell to 6.5 percent in July after seeing a slight increase in June, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Carson City Grocery Outlet presents more than $2,000 to local food bank

Grocery Outlet presented Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, with a donation of more than $2,000. The Carson City Outlet continues to be an active partner with the Food Bank at FISH.

The Carson City Grocery Outlet provided food donations valued at nearly $10,000 in the last fiscal year ending June 30, 2016.

“Without this type of community help, so many people would go to bed hungry.” said Liz Patterson, FISH Food Bank Manager.

Nevada continues to add jobs in July

Employment growth continued in July with 4,700 jobs added or 31,900 more than a year ago, according to figures released Wednesday by the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. Statewide unemployment however, did rise slightly to a seasonally-adjusted 6.5 percent.
