Open Enrollment is just around the corner starting Nov. 1 and running through Jan. 31, 2016. That is why the Division of Insurance is officially kicking off a pre-enrollment campaign to turn consumers into insurance experts before Open Enrollment begins.

More than 40,000 Nevadans pick 2015 Marketplace health plans in open enrollment
Submitted by editor on Tue, 12/30/2014 - 11:48amAccording to a report released Tuesday by the Department of Health and Human Services, 40,285 people in Nevada selected plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace leading up to the Dec. 15 deadline for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2015.
About 90 percent of Nevadans who selected health insurance plans in the first month of open enrollment were determined eligible for financial assistance to lower their monthly premiums. All of the 40,285 Nevadans who selected a plan signed up for the first time.
Health and Human Services awards Nevada $2 million for health care upgrades

Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. They are also selling raffle tickets in conjunction with the movie. A multiple of prizes are available that evening at the showing of the film. Raffle tickets cost $1 each or 25 tickets for $20. Doors open at 6 PM.

Douglas County Emergency Management and Carson City Health and Human Services, along with several community partners, including the Douglas County Healthcare Coalition, are hosting the free drive-through flu vaccination clinic.
Citizens are invited to stop by the GE Bently parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a free flu vaccination. Vehicle staging will begin on Bently Parkway off Buckeye Road. The address is 1631 Bently Parkway South.

Open enrollment began one year ago, on October 1st, 2013. The websites had a rocky rollout, but 10.3 million Americans who had no health insurance a year ago now have coverage.

“We are thrilled to offer NDOI Connect free of charge,” said Commissioner Scott J. Kipper. “This consumer oriented smartphone app will allow Nevadans to connect with the Division of Insurance in ways that have never been available before.”

Circuit Court’s recent ruling against the IRS may spell the end of Individual Mandates for Health Insurance (and individual penalties for not having qualified health insurance) and the Employer Mandates for companies with over 50 employees (and the corresponding penalties for not complying)…IF a state did NOT set up a State Health Exchange.
