Nevada 2015 proposed health Insurance rates available online
Proposed 2015 health insurance for individual and small group markets in Nevada are now available online, state Insurance Commissioner Scott J. Kipper announced Thursday. The proposed rates are for plans sold both on and off Nevada’s health insurance exchange.
Nevadans who wish to view proposed health insurance rates for plan year 2015 can go here. The Division has made proposed rate information available in two different formats.
“Upon receiving these proposed rate filings, the Division will review each product to ensure that their forms, rates, provider networks and benefits are in compliance with state and federal regulations,” said Commissioner Kipper. “We encourage Nevadans to review the proposed rates and submit any comments they have to the Division. This feedback is an invaluable part of the rate review process.”
At healthrates.doi.nv.gov consumers can search by their age, county, preferred metal tier, and whether or not they want to see plans offered on or off the exchange and view the proposed non-smoker rates for specific plans.
At doi.nv.gov/Rate-Filings consumers can view the requested overall rate changes carriers have submitted to the Division in the individual and small group markets in 2015.
Both sections of the website allow users to comment on the proposed rates. The Division takes these comments into consideration when reviewing proposed rates.
The submitted filings represent five carriers and 92 health plans that will be sold in Nevada’s individual market on the Exchange, and 16 carriers and 242 health plans that will be sold in Nevada’s individual market off the Exchange.
For the small group market on the Exchange, submitted filings represent one carrier, and 26 health plans. For the small group market off the Exchange, submitted filings represent 19 carriers and 663 plans to be sold.
There will be plans offered in all regions of Nevada for both the individual and small group market on and off the Exchange.
The approved rates for both the individual and small group markets will be made available to the public on the Division’s website here on Oct. 16 for plans that are effective Jan. 1, 2015.
The State of Nevada Division of Insurance is a division of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry. It is the state agency that protects the rights of Nevada consumers and regulates Nevada’s $11.5 billion insurance industry.
It has offices in Carson City and Las Vegas. In 2013, the Division investigated more than 2,300 consumer complaints and recovered nearly $4.4 million on behalf of consumers.
Meanwhile, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced Thursday that $250,000 in Affordable Care Act funding has been made available to support a health center in Nevada to establish or expand behavioral health services for 36,600 Nevadans.
Nationally, HHS awarded $54.6 million in Affordable Care Act funding to support 221 health centers in 47 states and Puerto Rico to establish or expand behavioral health services for over 450,000 people. Health centers will use these new funds for efforts such as hiring new mental health professionals, adding mental health and substance use disorder health services, and employing integrated models of primary care.
“These awards will further reduce the barriers that too often prevent Nevadans from getting the help they need for mental health problems,” said Secretary Burwell in a news release. “Health centers in Nevada with these awards are on the front lines of better integrating mental health into primary care and improving access to care through the Affordable Care Act.”
The Affordable Care Act expanded mental health and substance use disorder benefits for approximately 60 million Americans nationwide, including 550,516 Nevadans. Thursday's announcement gives those with newly expanded health coverage additional opportunities to access care.
Today, four health centers operate more than 28 service delivery sites that provide care to over 62,284 patients in Nevada.
